This is a late report, but a solid pour of Knob Creek on the rocks (the best American whiskey they had on offer at Symphony Hall) before last Saturday's Boston Symphony Orchestra concert was the perfect way to settle in for a great performance.

Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 was familiar and very well played, but this was the first time I've heard Bruckner's Symphony No. 4, and it was fantastic. Sort of a blend of Wagner and Mahler, lots of brass and crescendos, really my kind of symphony.

Last night was a replay of a few nights back. Whisky Sour recipe with a dash of orange bitters for myself made with Jefferson's. Still can't drink Jeffersons neat, too boring and not much flavor compared to other stuff I like. Frozen Whisky Sour (Whisky Margarita? Still not sure what to call it.) for the wife. Used a different recipe for my sour mix this go around. Added about 1/2 cup fresh squeezed orange juice to it this time to my normal recipe of 1 cup fresh squeezed lemon, 1 cup fresh squeezed lime, 3/4 cup simple syrup.

And a chai liqueur by dancing pines distillery in Colorado.

So I've been tasting these tonight. And they suggest 1oz chai liqueur and 2oz bourbon for a "manhattan". Its Interesting but not bad.

I go to Bruins and Celtics games too, but the bars near the seats I can afford only have beer taps... :-D

I find whiskey and being in an audience go together really well, for everything from local punk shows up through rock, blues and jazz, to theater, dance and sports. Huh, fancy that! :-)

Oh, wow! I found an old bottle of WT Rare Breed in the back of my cabinet. It is about 2/3 full. Dated 1999 and 108.4 proof. It was the best drink I've had in a long time.

While I started with the last of a bottle of the excellent Julio's selection 4R1B OESO (so good that 7/8 of the bottle was happily enjoyed by many friends at a party a few weeks ago), it looks like an OGD 114 festival 'round here tonight, and I'm joining in the fun.

The 114 is great neat or with just a little water. What a bargain!

Squire, I'm curious if you've tried the 114...
