michaelturtle1
Had an awesome dinner tonight at the Gramercy Tavern and had a pour of gold foil 16yr Hirsch it was a decent pour but way overpriced for what it is. The wife had a pour of CEHT rye which we both really enjoyed so I will have to finally pull the trigger on that bottle
Kalessin
Last night I cracked open a bottle of Loch & K(e)y selected Elmer T. Lee, poured a nice glass and settled in to watch the Celtics play on the road in Portland. My basketball team lost, but the bourbon was a win! ("Loch & K(e)y" is Julio's Liquors and another store or two banding together; it looks like they wanted it to be a fairly active whiskey society and web forum, but most of what I see of it is tastings on the schedule at Julio's and special bottles. Generally very good bottles. ) Edited February 25, 2013 by Kalessin
JPBoston
I had a mini-pour of Fighting Cock 103 as an appetizer to my pulled-pork lunch today. Last night I cracked open a bottle of Loch & K(e)y selected Elmer T. Lee, poured a nice glass and settled in to watch the Celtics play on the road in Portland. I'm dying to order some ETL from my local Total Wine, we don't seem to get it here for whatever reason. Would you mind posting some tasting notes? smokinjoe
Sipping from a newly opened Benchmark Single Barrel 94 proof. More "corny" than I remember past bottlings being.

Would you mind posting some tasting notes? I'll post some tasting notes after I've had a second or third pour to sort my thoughts out, and with the caveats that this is a store selection bottle, and that I'm really terrible at describing bourbon flavors... compliance
Did a head to head tonight of JPS 17 batch 4 and JPS 18 batch 14. The 17 won- fuller, sweeter, caramel-cotton candy-roasted coconut. The 18 is good too but drier and spicier. The 18 just seems to be missing something and doesn't have that fullness of the 17. Interestingly my wife preferred the 18, and I generally think she has a better palette than me but I don't know what she's thinking tonight. JPBoston
Just finished a healthy pour of Fighting Cock while watching Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows. I can't believe this doesn't get more love here... gets better every time I try it. I'll post some tasting notes after I've had a second or third pour to sort my thoughts out, and with the caveats that this is a store selection bottle, and that I'm really terrible at describing bourbon flavors... Sounds good, looking forward to it.
jeffrey r
Had a first pour of Wathen's Single Barrel last night from a freshly opened bottle. Good bourbon, and I can see it getting better with time. Good value at under $30 for the bottle.

Barclay Beach
Started with OWA, but it didn't do the trick. For my next pour, I had to reach back for some JPS17 to make it count. Now, I'm a happy camper.
