Pretty sure I'm winning right now. Knock on wood.

You must be doing something right - thanks for bringing the sun out :-)

Sitting in my sunlit office - alone, not working and with music playing - drinking a pour of Blanton's right now. Feel guilty about not going for a jog or hike but, you know, bourbon called.

Sorry guys and gals I haven't checked in earlier, I started with some WLarueW, then 4R1B, then ORVW 10/107, as always, neat.

No other way to drink it is there? :)

I'm going with some EWSB and ETL for now.

So after being on this board a short time and seeing all the OWA fans out there I bought myself a bottle and had myself a healthy pour with a small splash of water. Mhmmmhmmmm Perfect way to end a long week. You guys know what your talking about! I still love my 4RSB, but this is also a great everyday pour!

I've had a good night. Started with a very small taste of a sample - Wiser's Very Old, an 8 year old, 80 proof Canadian distilled in the '70's. Very smooth, rather sweet, with a slightly spicy finish. Moved on to ERSB, then decided to revisit my JPS18, which has now been open a couple of months. What a huge improvement. It's no longer one-dimensional (wood). The nose is caramel, the taste is sweet (where it was dry) and toffee and just the right amount of wood for balance. The finish is long, and sometimes a bit hot, but not on every sip.

It's probably fair to say that this is now one of the most interesting bourbons I've had, which is a 180 degree turnaround from where I was when I opened the bottle. It's a night and day difference. I may actually have to go pick up the bottle of batch #6 that is available locally.

Had a tasting session at work tonight. Rowan's Creek, Ezra B, Basil Hayden, Eagle Rare, and Breaking & Entering. Nice way to end what was a long day. We're planning on making this a monthly event.

That's, how it is done, boys.

:toast:

Thanks Joe. I was with three vodka drinkers, so I felt outnumbered.

2012 GTS. Been making it a point to drink the "special" stuff a couple times a week. It automagically makes the occasion special, and it a great way to end the day.

EWSB 1999 damn tasty stuff. Had a small taste of Saz18 after dinner and set out to finish the EWSB. Project drink down is now complete. Only 2 bourbons and 3 ryes open now. Only "daily" drinkers left are a Willett Rye and High West RR. Tomorrow will be exciting get to open something new.

A bit of air does interesting things. It amazes me how much our bourbon can change once opened.

With all this talk of Makers dropping proof, I pulled my Abraham Bowman 17 yr old 140 pf bottle out and took it down to ~110 pf. Really drank well at the lower proof. Way more flavors come through at this low proof. Maybe Makers is on to something. :-P

That's not the same as the Bowman Rye at 138.8 is it?

I've got a Bowman sample here that I've only nosed. It's very dark, and smells like it is very high proof, but it's not marked.

And I made a typo on the Wiser's Very Old, it is an 18 year. I found remarkably little wood in it for that age, though my only data point was the previous experience (now modified) with the JPS18.
