thiemb
Has anyone tried 45th Parallel's Border Bourbon yet? http://www.45thparallelspirits.com/products.html I'm heading home to MN for the holidays and was thinking of swinging by the distillery to grab a bottle. Looks like its only aged couple years but I like that they are using 53 gallon barrels.
squire
Don't know anything about them but if you get a chance to swing by I'd like to hear your impression of the place.
thiemb
I visited the distillery today and picked up a bottle of the Border Bourbon. Its a short 10 minute drive from the interstate through some scenic countryside. Its a cool place and I like their focus on using local suppliers. There wasn't a tour today but they showed me around a little and gave a me a generous sample pour. They're using full sized barrels with plans to age for longer. Sounds like they'll have a rye available in 2013 too. The bourbon is very smooth and sweet with some fruity notes. It tastes young but it's very promising. Ill be excited to try future batches as they continue to age. Right now I think the bourbon is only available at the distillery and through some select stores in WI and MN. squire
Thanks for the report. We have some relatives in Wisconsin and may be going up there in the summer.
