Nice! Dan get you that 120, too?
essentially. He picked up the LE early this week, and in conversation mentioned a store with some goodies on the shelf. I recommended we meet there for the LE swap and did some quick shopping. The 120th is a nice find, and the WTAS will be a Xmas gift for my father-in-law. I gave him the Tradition last month. Must be starting a theme. Maybe if Rutledge can be convinced to come by the Gazebo in April I can get some bottles signed.

1 X OF Signature

3 X JPS17 (2X Batch 2, 1X Batch 4)

2 X BMH NAS

1 X EC18

Now that's a nice haul. I've never seen any of those in the wild.

Most of the Master DIstillers are at liquor world at some point during the week doing signings. JT will post a schedule when the time gets near.

Paul, I think that's at KBF week. I don't recall much going on at JT's, sampler week, other than he usually has some newer bottlings available and the 10% discount he gives us. Remember Whiskyfest in Chicago is happening on Friday this year too.

As to MD's at the gazebo now, I wouldn't hold my breath. It's a brave new bourbon world in just a few short years, some aren't exactly enamored of the group as a whole (from the mouth of people who work with them) and once your a rockstar your forever a rockstar.

Found out that a local shop had one bottle left (from what I can tell the last bottle in town) of 2012 FR LE SmB, so I braved the crappy weather last night at 11:30 to get one. Worth it.

Getting ready for Sunday (can't buy booze on Sunday and I wanted to miss the crowds tomorrow.)

2 x OWA

1 x OGD

1 x 4R SmB 2011 LE

1 x 4R SB

1 x Maker's Mark

...and I'll be damned if I didn't forget the beer. Guess I won't miss the crowds after all.

Everydayer pour reload yesterday of a Private Barrel 4RSB and MM 46. I had a longer than normal lapse on reupping the MM46 for some reason, and after sipping it last night out back in front of a nuclear-blast-heat-inducing fire in the outdoor fireplace, I concluded I shan't be so lax again. It's a fine, fine, whiskey.

Joe, what is it you like about the 46 compared to the regular MM?

Firstly, I'm a fan of regular Maker's Mark. I've always thought it is one of the most underappreciated bourbons around here. I drink it regularly. The 46 seems like a totally different whiskey to me, however. Almost, more like a rye bourbon, rather than a wheater. The 46 process gives it more woodiness, as would be expected. That woodiness translates to increased age for me, not just the "flavor" of wood. It's well integrated, and doesn't come across as unbalanced. Adds more spiciness, as well, when compared to regular MM. And, that spiciness follows through on the finish. A nice pop. For those who feel Maker's fails on the finish (I always like to point out when discussing MM, that the soft finish in MM is by design. You may want more, but it's not a failure in the whiskey.), the MM46 brings in a more rebust ending. But, what I really like is the sweet wood hints on the nose. I love the nose of regular Maker's, and actually, I think that is the best part of that whiskey. To me, one of the most pleasant noses of any bourbon out there. The nose on the 46 amps that up, gives it more sweetness, and hits me real good.

Hrmmm. I remember liking my bottle of 46 well enough, but haven't gone back to it in awhile. Going to remedy that here in a second.

Thanks Joe, for a very through assessment. I bought a bottle of 46 for a friend's birthday (he was a MM fan) and had a couple drinks with him at his all day cookout/birthday bash but didn't take notes, my mind being on other things at the time. Just never got around to buying another bottle.

Was out and about, no urgency to purchase anything as the bar and bunker are well stocked, but saw a Wathen's Single Barrel on sale and picked one up. Passed Wathen's up on many an occasion, so looking forward to giving it a go.

Bought a bottle each of OGD114, VOB BIB and HH White Label BIB. It's a value-priced bourbon night!

For under $50 with tax that is money well spent,I wish we could get the White Label HH here !

It's not bourbon and I'm almost ashamed to admit that I bought this. But out of curiosity mainly, I bought a jar each of the apple pie and the strawberry flavors of Junior Johnson's Midnight Moon.
