Barton on the rocks with lounch.

Lounch? Was that a yawn? Getting tired of the ol' Barton now?

Been a tough week. Thought I'd end it on a positive note.

Nice! How does that Lawrenceburg bottling compare to modern BT-produced Lot B IYO?

Well, it smells of vanilla and a sort of old must, taste is a bit gritty, yet a nice caramel comes through...although so does a distinct must. Completely different than the current offering, but one I'll be interested to sip on over time.

Starting with some GTS. Going to be a long night, 8.4 lb pork shoulder just went on the egg.

edited - had 1 pour left in the bottle, so I poured another, goodbye 2012 GTS we will meet again soon.

Mmm, mmm, all of that sounds good. Where did you say you live again?

I'm going to get to know a bottle of PHC '12 139.4 proof tonight.

I had written off EWSB for some time as too low in proof and, by extension, flavor compared to some other things I enjoy, but I'm coming back around. Several pours of various years recently have convinced me that I was rash in my decision. There's some '97 in my glass right now and damned if it isn't some fine whiskey!

If you ever tend bar at a high-end bourbon bar please call me; I want you to pour for me.

Wow! got a great chuckle out of that!

A little GTS 141.8 prior to morning coffee. Wow!! What an eye opener! Now that they are opened I'm thinking of opening a WLW.

At a friends' house for a drink and appetizers last night before going out to dinner. The only bourbon on their shelf was a 375 of Jim Beam White.

I had one, neat, before sampling a ginger-flavored rum they brought back from St. Maarten which was interesting and fun.

I know we love to rag on on it, but JBW isn't that bad!

Well, I opened a WLW 134.8. Lots of alcohol upon entry with this one. It sure needs to stand for awhile.

No, it's not bad. There are just so many that are better.

I bought a bottle of McKenna BIB SB to take to the Gazebo. I have wanting to try it, so this was a good excuse. Having a short dram right now. Its a decent pour, but for $20 more expensive then HH BIB white, it won't be a repurchase.

I have much the same take on McKenna, decent enough but not twice the price special.

Is this your preferred proof for this bottle? I've never brought it down that low because it speaks to me at just about every proof south of 130 or so.

It is Chris...I've enjoyed it about equally from 120 to 107 or so so I figured why not stretch the bottle a bit further and drink it at 107. Between you and me, does it really speak to you or is that Rod posting? :skep:

Watching the call to post and enjoying a 1962-1970 VSOF. Could this be what Hunter Thompson was drinking in "The Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved"?

Lovely pour of WTRRSmBSB. I really hope they relabel this and lose the SmB. Not so much because for a single barrel it is redundant, but so our abbreviation can be shortened

FR Mariage '09. Really enjoyable pour. Enjoyable meaning crazy good. So quick story-went a back to get the "other" bottle I left on the shelf and found out someone cleaned them out of the supposed last bottle and FIVE others they had in the basement. Somebody has some 'splainin to do at the Indy get together:grin:

Spring of '13 I've been enjoying many different bourbon's --- finally cracked open a bottle of '10 GTS, an x-mas gift of WTRB, a bottle of KCSBR and a bottle of KC Rye, a Derby bottle of Woodford Reserve and the latest two Straight Bourbon of the month offerings - OGD 114 and Wathen's. Not a bad bunch in the group, if I may add!

It looks like all of the "normies" that came over really liked Larceny. That bottle is a goner.
