Just got back from my first trip to bourbon country. I was only there for two days. Visited BT, both Four Roses facilities, HH, and Willet. Brought back these four bottles and sampling a little from each, as I have never had any of these before. Four Roses SB Barrel Strength (OBSF), Noah's Mill, Willet 4yr Rye, Willet 9yr Bourbon.

So far I ave tried the Four Roses and Noah's Mill. The FR is fantastic. The Noah's Mill is interesting. If I didn't know any better I'd swear someone vatted some Evan Williams Single Barrel with some Baker's. Lot's of Cedar and Rye.

Celebrating my birthday a few days early by jailbreaking a bottle of Blanton's Straight from the Barrel from the bunker. Cask-strength, high-rye, spice bomb. I would buy this by the case if they sold it in the States.

Started the evening with a couple of pours of EW Bib in coffee. Will now move to EC12 and then my special vatting of WSR and OGD114.

After that I will blissfully crawl to bed........

Just came back from a 15 days Hawaii Islands Cruise and brought with me an ECBP (first image with some ice) and a JPS18 (second image neat) along to drink daily.

Is the Willet from their gift shop, or just while in town? I know random releases seem to appear in Louisville/Bardstown past few months. Would gladly swing by the distillery if i knew they carried it.

It was from the gift shop. If I remember correctly they had the following:

4 Year Rye - $35

9 Year SB - $60

12 Year SB - $72

20 Year SB (Can't remember the price, I think it was around $155)

23 Year Vintage Rye (Can't remember the price, I think this one was over $200)

Prices are approximates from what I remember. I tasted the 20 year and while I liked it, I expected it to have more aged/woody profile to it that wasn't there. Not that that's a bad thing in this case, it just tasted younger than I expected.

I saw some of the 4yr Rye at one of the Liquor Barns for around the same price.

Some more EWSB 2003. I'm thinking another bottle or two of this will be needed.

If I may suggest as a wheater blender myself... pull out the WSR and replace with larceny...

Great idea, Brett. I'll have to try that one.

Knocking off a bottle of Bulleit tonight. Had the bottle a couple of years. Be in no rush to buy another.

Been a little while since I've been on. So in the last few weeks it's been OGD 114, OGD BiB, JPS Batch 26 and Blanton's amongst others. I actually had the Blanton's for the first time last night and that is some right tasty stuff.

At the Sampler, my dad was kind enough to slide me a cute little 2 oz flask filled with some Ezra B Single Barrel, as I was interested in trying it without buying a whole bottle. In hindsight . . . I'll have to check if the flask was merely the container or a gift  But the Ezra B is quite nice! Thick, sorta syrupy mouthfeel with unabashed rye up front followed by a nice, corn-sweet finish. Cheers, dad!

Love ND OGD. After reading this, I'm going with a bottle of 89 OGD 86 proof next.

Wild Turkey 12 year old gold foil. Bottled in 1992. Was fortunate to share some with my dad last night. It was so rich and full of flavor. It very well may be the best bourbon I have ever had!

Went to my cousin's party so gave the husband, my friend, a bottle of ECBP. Drinking it with some ice.

Cheers

Nice! So, how did you handle things after you broke the cork? :D

For me tonight, I'm on a Heaven Hill Love Train, with HH 6 yr BIB, Larceny, and now getting ready for "family movie night" with a pour of ECBP.
