Killed my AAA 10 Star in my final taste-off between it and AAA 10 yr. First time I slightly favored the 10 Star to my surprise. Second time - I couldn't decide, dead heat. Today, I'm leaning ever-so-slightly towards the 10 yr. Each of the three were blind, so I'm happy that I won't have to sweat "running out" of 10 yr. Both tasted lovely after a few days away.

That's interesting Gary, I haven't tasted the two side by side in at least 12-15 years so I'm speaking from memory but even blind I could spot the oak in the 10 year. Other than that and a bit more refinement in the older sibling I don't recall much difference between them.

I get the impression that you've had a lot more practice than I have squire

Moving on to some SB blend (60 OWA/40 W12). While migrating to a new cabinet, I noticed the fills on my wheaters might give them a complex if they noticed the fill on their rye brethren. So, in search of some method to the madness, will be appreciating some wheaters tonight! Spread the love :)

An extremely good bottle of Buffalo Trace. Single-barrel selection for Steve and Nancy, Ocean Lake (weird as I picked this up at my local). In fact it smokes the barrel selection of ER101 I've got.

Makes a fierce manhattan as well, something I hadn't noticed Buffalo Trace to shine in before.

The dappled late afternoon sunlight falling through the trees in my front yard turned my thoughts to the color of good whisky so I'm having some Old Grand Dad.

Visiting my folks for the weekend and I'm sarting with a glass of AA 86 from a bottle that my dad has that appears to be from the 70's. A bit mellow but very tasty with a great butterscotch note on the finish.

A little Knob Creek Single Barrel in a Knob Creek glass on a Knob Creek coaster. True story.

Not necessarily a SB favorite but still solid - Woodford. Couldn't get to the store today so when I looked at the bunker I went with a standard bourbon...not the best, not the most expensive.

Squire has me convinced that I need some OGD!

Opened a bottle of Jeff 17, opened and finished a half pint of VOF and sprinkled a few pours of PVW 15... I think I am properly celebrating my wife's birthday?

Wonderful way to celebrate exactly how I would have done it. Wish I was invited.

Cheers

I'm in awe.

Nothing wrong with Woodford Reserve. It's a favorite of mine.

Try to find the 100 proof OGD. That is the best one, IMHO.

Some Noah's Mill. Best glass I've had out of this bottle yet. Maybe I should always wait till after a good steak dinner to drink this. Outstanding right now.
