Sipping on a few dusties from yesterdays trip

354 Old Forester BIB

Pikesville Rye

86 proof OGD from '92

Surprisingly to me, the 354 Old Forester is the pour I have enjoyed the most. The Pikesville was OK but was way too minty at the end of the pour.. and the ND OGD is butterscotch goodness

Pappy 23 in celebration of the start of my mancation. My car buddies and I are headed to Branson in the morning for some spirited mountain driving, good food and fine whiskey tasting at night.

4RSmB, a very good bottling with rich and balanced spicy/flowery tones. This bottle too has no "raw oak" notes like you sometimes get in this brand (also in 4RSB, a fresh wood-like taste I've noticed in some malts too). Very excellent work and like other brands, there seems overall a recent spike in quality. I believe all the interest in high end spirits in the trade and public presses and e-media is having an influence on distillery tasting panels.

Last night was a wonderful night of drinking. PHC 10 a double... a bit oxidized due to a cork issue at the bar I had it at. Still good stuff. Jeff 18 Batch 10... Delicious! Then back home for WT101 Old Number 8! Sunny Brook ND Willet 5yr Bourbon, Willet 5yr Rye (one of my favorites) and some baby saz.

Just a little pour of ND OGD 8/86 before dinner. Listening to the thunderstorm roll in.

Killed a bottle of Bulleit with 2 final pours. The Four Roses flavor shines thru, but I have to crack a YL to decide which is the better value.

That's a rare bottle. I don't believe they made it for very long. I've found a dozen 8/100s, but only one 8/86.

About to kill a bottle of Garrison Bros that I was able to carry in my luggage back from Texas. I know a lot of people don't like it b/c of its unique taste. But I can't get over the taste of sweet corn. It is like nothing I have ever had, and I'm hooked on it for the moment. It is definitely a little on the expensive side, so I would like to find a cheaper bottle that tastes a lot like it.

It's what the Gods drank on Mt. Olympus except they called it nectar.

I'm not at home right now so I can't take a photo, but, if I remember correctly, it looks just like a regular ND OGD 86 (gold top) except it says something like "aged 8 years" or "8 years old" in block font at the top center of the front label. The the age on all ND OGD BiBs I have is stated on the faux strip and were all bottled between 1988 and 1990. I believe the 8/86 is from around the same time.

That's a beautiful thing. What's the date on that bottle, Winston?

To stay on topic, I'm top drinking some WT Tribute. Wild Turkey at its finest.

That's a new one for me, then again I had not come across an 8yr BIB OGD until Monday

Moving on to the regular FRSmB while still leaving a little of the FRSmB LE 2012 in the glass that should make it tastier than normal.

Best regards, Tony
