Drinking some Hirsch 25 and Willet 10, barrel proof.

A mistake drinking neat Hirsch 25 then neat Willett 10. Willet is very hot and spicy. But added a little ice, it's very good and balance out. Taste and finish are nice but where's the nose? Maybe of my allergy? Nothing there. It's it just me. Nice and smooth with the ice and no burn. Good bottle, I paid $71. That'll be the max.

Edit:

Forgot to say Hirsch 25 rye is just amazing.

Going for the ECBP now. Then JPS18. I guess it's one of those night to celebrate the beautiful bourbon we get to enjoy.

Just want to say I lost my sense of smell. Barely anything with ECBP as well. So please don't judge Willett 10 because of what I said on the nose.

Cheers

Hugh

Been on a BRAT diet due to a stomach bug for the greater part of a week - reading your posts helps me remember that health, family, peace, etc., are some of the foundational elements of why I am able to enjoy my whisky.

When I am able, I'll have one in appreciation of the simple truths in life.

Last night, returned home after a week at a resort in Martinique (this year's annual trip by DW's company).

Open bar, day and night. Lots of rum drinks on offer. For American whiskey they only had Jim Beam White, and when their bottle and a half ran out, they resupplied with JD.

I got home late last night, and enjoyed OGD114 on the front porch while watching an hour-long late night thunderstorm go by.

I'm off work tomorrow so this is my Friday evening. Starting and probably ending with FR1B store selections. Of the five I've got there's two favorites (both from warehouse ME). Two don't taste significantly different from the standard single barrel and one is sub-par. But even the sub-par bottle is really good.

savage that's living large.

I took the last 2 nights off as the Memorial weekend was a bourbon marathon, so I needed to get back on track with the good stuff.

Ritt BIB on a big square cube, followed by SB Blend 1:1 neat in a small Glencairn. Points to me for specificity.

Started out the evening with EWB and JBB (both on the rocks) while grilling. Then enjoyed some EWSB '00 and OWA while hanging out with Mrs. Mosugoji.

Inspired by Squire, when I saw Old Grand Dad available at the bar I was drinking at in the West Village, I ordered back to back doubles, neat.

Solid pour.

Finally bought CEHT Small Batch. So BT bottles 5yr whiskey at 100pr and charges $40? Fool me once...

Work evening. Two Bulleit neat and my first ever Thomas H. Handy manhattan. Unfortunately it was poured/mixed weak, flavor was good but it didn't have any more punch than my Ritt100 manhattans at home. Wine in between.

portwood my choice of the Old Grand Dad expressions is the BIB. I believe the 114 is more complex and probably aged longer but my local doesn't carry the 114.
