Crowes
How was the OWA/Bernheim combo? I'm sampling a couple of Kahn's SB OWA. One is a bit more woody, the other a little sweeter. Together, they're very good!It was pretty good, but I preferred the OWA on its own, as well as the Berheim. The mix was a little too sweet with some of the oak and leather notes I like in OWA a little too subdued.

It just doesn't do enough for me solo. Think tonight will be my own "Blend of Mashbills" w Bernheim and OGD

MissingKY
Weller 12 from a fresh bottle. Either I've seriously changed, or this bourbon has seriously changed. Really char-forward, and not in a good way. I haven't bought a bottle of Weller 12 in a couple of years and remember really enjoying the few previous bottles I've had. This one is thin and tastes like charcoal. I like well-integrated smoke in my whiskey - enjoyed a Highland Park 15 last night - but this one's killing me.On the other hand, I got my first NAS bottle of Weller Antique last week after drinking down my supply of 7/107, and I think that one's just as good if not better than the last age-stated bottles I had. Great neat and wonderful in cocktails.

squire
I have to go along with your assessment Joe and I frankly think NAS provides the Master Blenders with more flexibility to concentrate on flavor.
P&MLiquorsEric
I stopped into Eric's store for a minute while meandering around Kentucky on Sunday after the Sampler. My suitcase was already (too) full, so I couldn't buy anything, but it seemed like a great place, very well stocked on both bourbon and beer, and I'll make sure to stop there earlier in my trip next time. 393foureyedfox
We invite any straight bourbon members to stop in anytime. Be sure to mention that you are a SB member for a special pat on the back and wallet. I am there until 5 or 6 most days. Steve is there on Saturday and Sunday during the day. smokinjoe
In the dry shelter of the garage, watching a passing thinderstorm, while listening to the Braves on the radio. PHC 1st Ed, 122.6 is in my glass. Just like the weather, this powerful bourbon moves over the palate like rumbling and rolling thunder. Big and powerful, but no unwanted sharp edges, and with a finish that I just chew on seemingly forever. Balanced throughout. Gorgeous whiskey. Man, have we been blessed with the PHC line.
