My wife just opened our last family-sized jug of AAA. "When are we going to Kentucky?" she asked.

Enjoying a lovely pour of OGD 114 with a bit of ice. Mmmm
Just poured some Old Grand Dad myself.

Tried OGD 114 tonight. Glass. A few cubes. And liquid refreshment. First try. I like it but I can see that you need to be really careful! It is really smooth given the proof. Tried neat (sipped a shot glass full). A few cubes with the main pour was just right. Watched Lincoln.

Ain't it nice when you and the wife are on the same page.

I have been away from thread a while , but I have still been enjoying bourbon. I started the night with a pour of Weller12 and now involved with a glass of Larceny.

Had two great pours tonight. One rye, one bourbon. The 25 year year rye is the best I've had next to the PVWF Rye. Love to have two different ends of the spectrum.

Still plugging away at this gallon jug of OGD...I've barely made a dent. And I wish they would bring back the rocking pouring cradle. Clearly one of the better innovations that's gone the way of the dodo.

Starting the night with some JPS21, neat.

Next sure what follows, maybe a 4RLE2012 and finish with a PHC6th.

Edit: letting the JPS21 open up after 15-30 min, really makes a huge difference.

This needs a vid on YouTube or Vimeo. :D

Doing my best to kill an Old Fitz BIB, but it's going to live to fight another day.

I find that's true for many bourbons. I can't believe that you like ORVW 107 but not the NAS OWA. Try letting it sit for a while before you drink it.

I'm sipping on some WTRB 1999. Mmm, Mmm, good.

I used to like the ORVW10/107. Then in recent years, it's not quite the same anymore. That bottle (maybe 2009/2010) is barely touch as well.

I'll try to let those sit longer when I try it again. I can drink the ORVW10 but can't drink at all the OWA. Weller12 is pretty good for me though. Funny thing is I will take OGD114 over all of them at the moment.

Thanks

Hugh

Sipping on 4RLE2012 now. Started neat but now ice and just wonderful.

Can't go wrong with OGD114! Feel free to send any unwanted ORVW my way. It's one of my favorites. Ten years is a sweet spot for me in the wheater world.

I finally had Bookers for the first time last night, from batch C03-A29, and it was terrific. Neat first, then with a tiny splash, it was great both ways.

Cracked open my newly acquired Weller 12, neat after dinner. Very nice and a real bargain, I will look to buy more of it. Weller is one of my favorite labels, real bang for the buck!

I'd say a little AAA 10 yr, but that would be selling this pour short. I guess it's 3 fingers or so

Noah's Mill tonight. Really starting to enjoy the intense, roasted nut notes on the palate. It threw me off at first but now I'm digging how different it is.

I'm doing a bourbon run this evening, and guess what I started with? Weller 12! Next was KC 100, and now I'm have some 4RYL.

4RYL does not get much love here, but for the money, it is a wonderful bourbon. Full of vanilla and toasted oak, and a slight sweet floral taste/aroma that is distinctive to 4R.

I have never tried any four roses bourbon. It is funny, the bourbon snob in me says to try small batch or single barrel first. However, the education that I have received on this board says to try Yellow Label first and see where that takes me. I like the idea of all 10 mixes plus a few more at different ages. The price makes it a pretty logical choice.

Trying my first pour of Larceny tonight. I really like it. I think my sweet spot is 90 to 95 proof.

It's a fine boubron and a plenty good intro to 4R. Give it a go and if you like it then branch out.
