Spending the evening lazing around on the couch, drinking Old Crow and soda on the rocks.

Hah, who am I kidding? :D I'm alternating little pours FRSmBLE 2012 and FR1BLE 2012, sitting on the edge of the sofa, yelling at the TV as the Bruins battle the Penguins. Great hockey tonight! GO BRUINS!

Ha! Didn't even read yours until I posted mine. This is what I expected from the whole series. BTW, if the Pens hit another post I might put this bottle through the tv.

Having an 80-proofer night with some ND OT and VG. 80 proof isn't a deal breaker if it's made right in the first place.

WT 101, which cannot help but taste a little better with Chuck's endorsement.

Makers, OGD114, OGD100, KC Rye, Baker's, Basil Hayden, KCSB, Laphroig QC/10yr/18/25yr, Canadian Club....and their might have been some more.

It was a fun, fun night at the Beam hosted Great Whiskey Debate. Got to try some things I normally would not venture into-besides, would you turn done 25 Laphroig??

Got to have Fred Noe sign his book for me, hell of a nice guy, and pretty dam funny man. He certainly has fun on the job.

Plus was on of the very, very few people to correctly nose their 8 blinded products and match them to their name, got a mini barrel signed by Fred and all the other guest ambassadors.

How did all this fun happy you ask?? Can't be said enough, make friends with your whiskey monger and doors will open for you!!

I think I have a bottle of that so I'm looking forward to popping the cork on that one.

I'm really looking forward to Chichibu coming to the US too - I just hope prices are decent.

Ditto. The place I was at had a few card malts, but they were 60$ a pour and my wallet just couldn't handle that.

Sipping some Vintage Bourbon 17 for the first time. Very enjoyable. Sweet, lots of caramel, not very complex and light finish, but nose opens up with some air and very tasty if you like wheaters. Reminds me a lot of ORVW 10 year at lower proof.

M&M 5yo ('80) - glad I bought the store out, this is getting better as the bottle winds down. I doubt it would get pegged as a bourbon in a blind tasting, tho.

Now, a fresh bottle of YL - Yup, there's a real resemblance. The fruit is remarkably similar, but the YL has more cream throughout, less spice on the finish and no tobacco (just a bit of bitter oak). I look forward to tasting how the YL develops.

I wonder - if the YL was bottle-aged for 30 years, would it end up closer to the M&M?
