I think I'll join you with a pour of ORVW 107 Oscar. I only drink it neat as well. Once I put a cube of ice in it to see how it held up and I was really dissapointed. It turned into bourbon flavored water.

Also pouring from a fresh bottle of ER10 I bought today for $22. Had been a while since I last had this, and really pleased. As a GTS devotee, if the supposed "Stagg Jr" lands at $50, I'll probably stick with the ER10.

4R standard 1B tonight (thought the flavor and quality are WELL above standard).

Tonight I'm doing my high rye blend: 4RYL and OGD BIB @ 50/50. Smooth and buttery, with a nice rye bite. Neat, of course.

I wanted something low proof last night. I settled on a bottle of Basil Hayden's that I hadn't visited in at least a year. Sooooo much green apple in the nose and taste.

Been a long time since I've been on here as work was crazy in a good way during the 1st Quarter. Here's the list I ripped through this weekend....

Had a glass of FR 1B Binny's Handpicked OBSK on Friday along with a glass of the RRSB. Both are great bourbons but the nod goes to the FR 1B

Saturday I had a glass of Smooth Ambler Very Old Scout followed by a glass of ETL handpicked by Binny's. Love the Scout.

Good to be back and hope all are well

Larceny (at recent Sampler Gazebo but I'm selecting this thread for extended remarks).

This is an excellent bourbon, fairly deep and round-flavored, just a little short on the tail, but rather better than any of the Old Fitzgerald line from the same house. I understand it is 6-9 year old whiskey. This rather trumps Makers IMHO. The excellent price is an additional bonus. The last few years EW single vintage seem a little wanting in comparison.

Stopped at a friend's home in Louisville on my way back from the Sampler. He's the one who turned me on to bourbon several years ago while I was visiting for his son's high school graduation.

He gave me a bottle of Bulleit bourbon. I had a short pour last night and again right now, after work. Gotta say, I dig it. Not complex by any means, just an easy sipper that invites you to have another pour. It reminds me of WR in that, while I enjoy it occasionally, not sure I'd pony up to buy another bottle. We'll see...

Was in Chicago for Whiskeyfest. Thought I would stop in at GT Fish and Oyster. They had the entire BTAC plus a large selection of ryes. Decided to try a 1oz pour of the Vintage 23 rye. Tasted too woody for me. One more off my bucket list.

Hitting the 4R1B 2013 in a more controlled environment. This is good whiskey. Not as hot to me as it was Saturday night, in fact, not hot at all. Lots of spice with sugar/syrup sweetness lingering. Not as intense as the red hot candy finish i get from ECBP, but just as long. This at 13 years, along with the 17 yr OBSV, and the additional year of aging for each, has me fully charged for the SmB this fall.
