DBM
Carpano Antica vermouth? I should probably buy a bottle... But of course. The 1L bottle is "forcing" me to drink more manhattans. First world problem.

IowaJeff
I've been slowly nursing a bottle of 4 Roses single barrel 2012 LE. Every time I have a pour the first sip knocks my socks off. Other than that, I've been draining a bottle of Buffalo Trace and a 1 liter bottle of WT at a pretty good clip. Everytime I get a bottle of regular BT it goes fast. Flee
Just tried ogd86 not a bad pour but not good enough for what it costs In the uk (nearly as expensive as kc and frsmb) the ewsb 2003 on the other hand is a great pour for the price and one I will certainly be replacing.Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk
Alden
I had some OGD 86 proof yesterday. It's very good for a $13.00 bottle. Today, Weller 12. Mmmmm....
Flee
Ogd86 is £28 here and to put that in perspective the last wlw12 I bought was £31.Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk

Flee
I think that I would probably see some of the same with scotch prices to you as getting the product there levels the pricing on the lower end to some degree. How much do you pay for balvenie double wood for exampleSent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk

tanstaafl2
Taxes often unlevel the playing field from country to country as do monopolistic governmental liquor store policies and can more than make up for transposrtation costs. Just ask our Australian and Canadian brethren! Not to mention the Byzantine liquor laws from state to state here... Flee
Sounds about right for the doublewood with the exchange rate we must just pay ridiculous prices for any imported spirits in the uk. Its why I found it strange when you guys talk about knob creek being overpriced as it is very similar priced to wlw12 rittbib wt101 4rsmb .Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk
brettckeen
Before heading out to dinner last night enjoyed a pour of ORVW 107, and a version of SB Blend: 50% OWA; 30% W12 and 20% WSR:cool:. Makes a very nice wheater pour.If I may suggest as a wheater blender myself... pull out the WSR and replace with larceny...

Special Reserve
This morning I took the board's advise and made an approximately mixture of equal parts Weller Centennial and WLW 138.4. I think it would have better if I let I sit for a half hour prior to drinking but at 0530 I didn't want to wait.

GaryT
Did a second blind tasting of AAA 10 star and AAA 10 yr . . . and may have to do a third in the future! First time around, I actually liked the 10 star a hair better, and this time - while there was a slight difference - I couldn't pick which I liked better! Good news is I won't sweat stocking up on 10 yr if they're that close to my palate (and they're comparably priced).

Crowes
Just got back from my first trip to bourbon country. I was only there for two days. Visited BT, both Four Roses facilities, HH, and Willet. Brought back these four bottles and sampling a little from each, as I have never had any of these before. Four Roses SB Barrel Strength (OBSF), Noah's Mill, Willet 4yr Rye, Willet 9yr Bourbon. So far I ave tried the Four Roses and Noah's Mill. The FR is fantastic. The Noah's Mill is interesting. If I didn't know any better I'd swear someone vatted some Evan Williams Single Barrel with some Baker's. Lot's of Cedar and Rye. If anyone is interested, you can see some pics from the trip here: www.flickr.com/ethandt Edited May 11, 2013 by Crowes

ramblinman
Good evening out celebrating an anniversary with the wife and a new deal for my small business, decided to try quite a few things Ive never had before.Old Rip Van Winkle, really drank like a lot lower proof than it was.Flight of Belle Mead, Leopold Brothers, Berkshire Mountian, and Thirteenth Colony Rye. In order of preference 2,3,4,1. Surprised myself with the Thirteenth colony, I don't think it will replace Rittenhouse as my goto rye, but I really enjoyed it. Very very strong mint qualities to it, which I guess the good folks at HH have me appreciating more and more. Tend to shy away from new breweries, but they're from the state and under $30 a bottle, I might pick up one to support them.Finished up with a whistlepig 10 year, which was a bit dissapointing, tasty but I'd built it up a bit in my head a bit and for the cost I could have had a whole bottle of Ritt. Oh well, live and learn. Have a tall pour of EWBiB to finish up the night.Cheers all.
