Some WSR with several weeks of air time. Definitely better. Yeah, I guess I'm one of those.

I have finally gotten to the 2013 Four Roses Single Barrel Limited Edition.

As you may recall I got a couple the other day, see post here,... http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?19590-What-Bourbon-Did-You-Purchase-Today-Spring-2013&p=343901#post343901

Another good buddy from the Southland contacted me today and he is sending me up two more bottles, so that's why I am now sipping some.

OK, here's my thoughts on it.

The info on the bottle says,...

"This Bourbon draws you in with delicate wisps of fresh honey and brown sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon.

Light mint and wild berry notes mingle fancifully with the aromas of orange peel and fresh gingerbread.

This is true, the "nose" is as stated above.

Dark chocolate truffle and spiced cookies lay like velvet on the palate

true again, great mouth feel and taste, spot on

and lead to a long and spicy finish that’s so soft, smooth and mellow,...

long and spicey finish, YES. smooth and mellow, I can't say that, I like it but it is a bit hot and bold and maybe jagged on the finish.

Larceny on the rocks before heading out for Thai. I need to reload (again) on this, and I'm running out of friends I feel comfortable asking to have the rebate sent to...:D

Lot B tonight.

Been heavy on Rye for some time, and need a change.

Always exciting to crack open a new bottle to add to the rotation.

McScrooge's selection Four Roses single barrel tonight.

Is that a new one, Doug? I haven't had one of their 4R1B's in a long time. What do you think about it?

I picked it up on the way back from Kentucky. Standard 100 proof OBSV, bottled 3/15/13 at 8 years, 11 months. I'm nearly finished with it already...it's a good one. Of the recent (2013) private selection OBSVs I've bought it comes in a close second to the one from DeKalb Bottle House.

I am currently drinking EW 1783, neat. Had to taste it against my most recent addition (Weller 12) and my first bourbon (Buffalo Trace).

Its holding it's own with the corny sweetness and almost minty aroma, but can't touch BT on overall oak, smoke, and lingering finish.

Great stuff. A bit more made it out into ky distribution last week. Great stuff.

When we were at 4R last week in one of the warehouses we spotted some 14+ year old barrels still aging with a special symbol indicating they were earmarked for one of the limited editions.

Finishing up a bottle of ER10. Not bad bourbon, not great and not worth the price, but not bad.

Dry Fly Washington Wheat Whiskey. This is growing on me each time I have a pour.

WLW 134.8 neat. I let it stand for about 30 minutes prior to tasting. I can still use some shelf and opening time but it sure has wonderful potential.

Started the AM with a pour of OGD 86 in my coffee. A good way to start the day. Now to mow.
