He must have caught a hint of sulphur in The Dalmore.

Or had an orgasm in his mouth when he sipped the Ealanta.

Ummm, yeah, this one will suffer from btac-van winkleitis. Ealanta was named whisky of the year by the god of whisky Jim Murray in his 2014 bible.

I need to write a tequila bible. There's money to be made...

Also, my Hi Time order came today with Bushmills 16, John Powers Lane, Redbreast CS and Glendronach 15 Revival. Just in time for the weekend.

Well then, in that case... Here's your Exhibit A for Orgasmic Whisky Reviewing:

http://www.bruichladdich.com/news/whisky-reviews/orgasmic-whisky-pc6-single-malt

From Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2009, the tasting note for the Port Charlotte PC6:

“Nose 24.5: "Ohhhhhh… arrrrrrrrgh…mmmmmmm... Oh, the peat, the peat… Yessssss… Oh my God..., mmmmmm… ohhhhhhh…

“Taste 24.0: First you get the smoky… Ooooohhhhhhh… arrrrrrrrrr… Then the sweeter..., mmmmmmmm… arrrroooohhhh…

“Finish 24.0: It finishes with a more gentle arghoooo... mmmmmmm... oooophhhhhh… arrrrrrrrrr…

“Overall 24.0: Not many whiskies have a truly unmistakable nose… and…, but this is, this… is..., this… mmmmmmm... arrrrrhh. Ohhhhhhh…”

The total of 96.5% ensured, despite being only 6 years old, PC6 won two awards: Winner of Best New Whisky and Best Whisky 12 years and under.

:)

Edit: Back on track...

Got this in a trade:

For sure! That'd be a blast & my bunker is always open to you... Hell, it'd give me an excuse to open more bottles to try.

This thread needs to get back to some sort of decorum and dignity. In that attempt, and to stay on topic, I picked up my first bottle of Balvenie DoubleWood today from my local whiskey monger.

Sipping it now, and wow is this tasty whiskey. It is indeed extraordinarily delicious. Sweet, luscious, and what a great finish. I'll need to be careful with this one, as I better not have too much, lest the chances for double wood drop significantly later on... :falling:

Welcome to the thread. :D

Once you move on to the Auchentoshan Triple Wood, this is going straight to NC-17.

Balvenie is an approachable malt for sure... I need to pick up a 12yr DW & a 15yr SB one of these days. The 15yr SB Christian brought to our last get together was outstanding.

Johnny's bunker is the first major tourist site I would like to see in Seattle! Question is, what the heck did you have to give up to get this beauty?

I love the Balvenie 15 SB. I can get it for $62+tax on a regular basis here. If it was $10 cheaper, I'd probably be going through it faster than anything.

C'mon up B! In all honesty, my bunker is somewhat middling in comparison to some of the PacNW bunkers I know of... (yeah, you know who you are)

:)

We should coordinate another Seattle SB get together when you gents visit.

Sometimes I wish my work had me out traveling more... The closest work related site out there is in Chicago though.

Ok, here's one to keep this thread pants-optional:

Because of this scotch sale going on for me locally I'm basically the internet mule with a bottle of 20+ year single malt in my internet b-hole. And I don't mind at all. The tax crap that you guys have going on in WA has me happy to do it all that much more. I'm am intrigued by the Rosebank though. The first scotch that got me into trying things was another lowland...Auchentoshan 10.

Picked up a Glenmorangie Discovery pack yesterday (750 of the original 10 yr + three 50 mls of Lasanta Sherry Cask, Quinta Ruban Port Cask, and Nectar d'Or Sauternes Cask (all 12 yrs old). I'm more of an Islay guy when I turn to Scotch, but loved the idea of getting 4 things to sample for $30!

Somebody's been busy... Nice haul there PW!

I'm keen to read your thoughts on the Tomatin as I've had no exposure to that distillery.
