Well i tried to tour a few distilleries recently.

Short Mountain Distillery is only open for tours thur - sat, 9-5pm. I stopped to take a picture of the entrance at least and a nice guy in short mountain tshirt drove up. They have two small stills and only make shine at the moment. The location is absolutely beautiful; makes me want to work there for free. I'm definitely heading back on a Saturday.

East Tennessee Distillery is in Piney Flats, TN not too far from Bristol Motor Speadway. Not open for tours yet it seems, but I have seen their product showing up in local stores around the Greeneville TN area.

It's an exciting time in TN with all these new guys popping up. It will be years of course before they produce much in the way of aged whiskey, but the shine is welcome in the meantime.
