393foureyedfox
Are any of you Louisville guys seeing any Stagg Jr. or ECBP? What about AAA10, is it still available in Louisville? Son is heading there this weekend and might send him on a buying spree.no, no, and yes.the AAA 10 year is still pretty common here, but mostly in the 1.75's. ive looked briefly for a 750 to give a friend for his b-day, but havent seen any lately. even most of the rite-aid pharmacy stores have the AAA, though again mostly in the 1.75's. theyre typically $33-35 in that size.dont even get me started on the ECBP. the fact that every state but the one that makes it seems to have plenty really gets my panties in a bunch.... Lab Walker
On a lark, I picked up a bottle of Lexington bourbon. DW read the label to me... made by, made for etc. If we don't like it, it should go good with vermouth.
theglobalguy
Started the day trip with some OWA from TPS, ended it with a surprise find of Bowman Millenium @$69. Left 5 on the shelf, any KY based folks would be happy to PM the location. Don't expect they'll last long

GaryT
Picked up an EWSB 2012 store select from damn near Alabama Long day of dusty hunting that came up pretty short. Sounds like I should have just covered Atlanta since ECBP Batch 2 is creeping in!

compliance
A WSR 10yo. I always passed on these before but I guess the mania got to me and I purchased one to see what the fuss is about. I'm hoping it's at least as good as ECBP (at double the price x_x)
WhiskyRI
I picked up a bottle of VSOF12 at a local shop. They have one more bottle left (with plenty of dust on it) which I plan to go get in a few weeks, not that I need it.

WhiskyRI
@kySalesRep - I try to take a zen approach to my dusty hunting. It will be there until it isn't. Plus my wallet only has so much capacity. I was also buying some other stuff (not bourbon) that was priced way too low. (Laphroaig Quarter Cask for $40 which is normally $55-60 around here). And finally the bottle I left is on the bottom shelf tucked way back. That being said if something is truly special I'll scoop it up but my tiny bunker is already overflowing. wmpevans
Picked up my GBS-ETL bottles. Can't wait to crack one open later today. While "shopping" picked up a dark side: Bunnahabhain 12: unchillfiltered 46.3% Islay malt. This is a non-peated Islay malt, so not your usual peat monster.Seriously good: caramel, vanilla sweetness with creamy mouthfeel, and nice long finish. And $50. Not bad for a 12 yr unchillfiltered single malt.

PaulO
Yesterday I was in a store that had a display of David Nicholson bottled in bond. I'd never seen it in person before. On the display the store had made their own description. They said it was 7 year old HH wheated bourbon 100 proof. A store employee saw me checking it out, and asked me what I usually drink. I said "stuff like this, bonded bourbon". He offered me a sample. I thought it was decent for $17, and picked up two bottles. I would say tasting it seemed like something in between Old Fitz bond and Larceny. I could find no age statement on the label. I know this has come up before, but the label still says distilled at Old Fitzgerald Distillery DSP 16. I rarely buy anything from non distiller producers but: this was bonded bourbon, reasonable price, and I tried a sample first. I guess I wonder if this will be one of those one time deals, or a regular item on the shelf.
squire
According to law the distillery where the whisky was actually disstilled must be identified, DSP 16 is Stitzel-Weller. Made by is a different story so check the back label for another DSP. Edited August 18, 2013 by squire

There are also other postings about people's experiences with encountering this bottle which still has DSP 16 on the label. Was this newer stock recently brough in from the distributor? Amazing that they are still using up the old labels even though it has been many years since it contained S-W distilled.http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?15299-David-Nicholson-BIB&highlight=david+nicholson
