squire
Wait a minute, if that label doesn't correctly disclose the DSP (one of the reasons for the law) then the use up old labels rule is being stretched pretty thin.Paul can you describe the label a bit more. TunnelTiger
Being able to use old labels really surprises me. What's to keep them from printing more and saying they are old?
T Comp
Nobody has ever had an explanation on the mystery with LUXCO and their labels but it's a reality. Here is another thread on a LUXCO bottled Schnuks labelled as BIB but also stating it was 36 months. The Nicholson BIB squat bottes should have a year date embossed in the bottom glass and I have seen '05, '07 and '09...still with the DSP 16 label. Even in '05...you really think they had tanked DSP 16 juice for that long or using 13 year old barrels  ? http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?16332-Bottled-in-Bond-Schnucks&highlight=david+nicholson+bottled+bond

Nillion
I would've asked for a picture but he mentioned seeing them at the store which I presumed would be closed on Sunday. Liquor stores are closed on Sunday aren't they? Or is it just the sparsely populated heavily wooded area where I live.

GaryT
Picked up an ECBP (first batch) thanks to a fellow SB'er. And yes, it feels as if a great weight has been lifted The WN has been fed enough for today
BrooklynBorbone
Nothing crazy, but I grabbed a couple of Old Forrester 75th Anniversary Gift packs in Jersey while on a long weekend beach trip. Cool Glencairn class and 21st Amendment replica, but the juice left me feeling bleh...I believe its a recreation of whiskey from that era, though I'm not sure. Can anyone fill me in? Also grabbed an OP 14 Single Malt which I quickly swapped for another EH Tornado.
PaulO
The David Nicholson I saw look like the same label as the one in the earlier posts. Bottled in MO.

Wish you would have told me as I'd have dropped off my bottle I picked up in South Carolina. I'll be interested to hear what you think.

joboyd
Finally grabbed a larceny, have wanted to try it for a while just never pulled the trigger..For what it is, I think it's a great entry-level wheater. Not my favorite, but for the money it's a great introduction to the flavor profile for the uninitiated.

But around these parts, for $20 - it's hard to go wrong (and for the year the rebate was available - impossible to beat!)
NWBourbonDrinker
Out of the oppressive Washington State tax regime so picked up an Angel's Envy Port Finished, Woodford Reserve, and Booker's. Nuttin fancy but getting them on the cheap was sure nice.

I wanted to like it more and it is an acceptable pour. However, I much prefer W12 or OWA. But, the price is right! Unfortunately, we can't get it in Indiana. I would probably give it more tries if it were.

393foureyedfox
Finally grabbed a larceny, have wanted to try it for a while just never pulled the trigger..while i liked it when i first tried it, now i dont care for it. i have a nearly full bottle that just sits here, waiting for those party nights when my friends who DONT like the barrel proof stuff u like come over. that and the 4RSingle Barrel. neither of those do i enjoy whatsoever. I once had a BArrel proof 4R and enjoyed it, but not this one. also, id pass right over the Larceny and grab a HH white BIB first, its cheaper and better. im starting to be one of those guys who doesnt care for the HH house taste. didnt pick up on it at first but am starting to.Larceny isnt bad at all, its just that i find it too weak/bland/whatever you want to call it. unremarkable maybe best says it. but, obviously, there are more fans of sub-100 proofers than there are fans of 100+ proofers, so i am in the minority.drink up! squire
Doug it could also be you are finding out why more than 90% of Bourbon mash bills use rye instead of wheat.
Wryguy
I have always found Larceny to be a perfectly boring wheater, one that I tried a few times at the bar, enough to help me form the opinion that next to the current Old Fitz BiB it is a weak, flaccid pour. Never bought a bottle, even with the rebate, and now that the rebate is finished, there's no reason, IMO, to choose this over other, better, wheated options - including proprietary personalized wheater vattings. I also don't think it is a HH deficiency as much as a Larceny deficiency, but YMMV.
squire
Of course there's a school of thought that believes it's a rye deficiency.
