This can't be said enough Eric. It's opened the doors I only once dreamed about.

Like today, get a followup email form my whiskey monger about a EC12 and EWSB barrel pick tasting, hell yah I'm in for it!!

He said the EC samples ranged from 144 to 157 proof. I'm giddy with excitement over that!!

Makes the recent ECBP and Stagg look rather tame......

Almost every time I go to my local store I being something for the whiskey guy to taste. I get dibs on whatever bourbon comes through the door. Even got a PHC 5th he found in the back room a few weeks ago!

EC samples are no joke, I was given an EC 18 sample that I believe was 176 proof! The 3 samples my local received for there EC 12 barrel were 136, 148 and 162

HH is doing that with the limited items keeping them extremely scarce in this area. ECBP, ec20+ and PHC. The gift shop has/had no shortage of the three.

Make a friend with a store owner/manager. Spend your dollars there even if it costs a buck or two more for your daily pours. Walking in the door (or calling) and asking for pappy/stagg et al will rarely get you a bottle at a normal price.

Oh, was giving kudos to HH for the practice. My sarcastic tone may have got in the way of that.

The company I work for has customers fly in from all over the world, HH has saved our butt a few times is showing off higher end bourbon.

Got some ECBP, after having one bottle I knew I had to find more! Got lucky! It can still be found down here in the south!

Made a special trip to pick up a Port finished Bowman I stupidly left in the shelf last week

My search for an ETL came up short, but they did have an RHF so I grabbed it. It's tasty, but I don't think it's worth $20 more than ETL.

Picked up what may be my last pair of Blanton's @ $34 each. Sad to see that price disappear with me still needing the other 'N' to complete the series. :drinking:

My first ever bottle of OGD BIB. I owe it all to SB also, otherwise I may have continued skipping over that bright orange label near the bottom shelf.

So yesterday BAO and me had a brief conversation about buying, and I mentioned that my wife would go nuts if i started bringing stuff home by the case to add to the already hefty bunker.

So what do I do?

Bring home a case.

Granted, it was only a case of three, so that's better right?........But they were handles......

Had to grab some of my recent ER barrel pick, it was one sale, and its pretty tasty.

Dam irony!

My local store was able to get a bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel Limited. I'm trying to stay in their good graces for the chance of other goodies.

Picked up a lonely ETL gold wax that others left behind. $29 isn't bad for a bottle of this stuff (at least around here.)

If you got that one lonely bottle from the place I am thinking, you are going to really like it. I picked up his twin brother and have it opened, just a Classic Pour (assuming it should be from the same barrel).

Same place. That's also where I saw the JE Pepper for $150, :slappin:

I already have a few of these (ETL), but wanted to make sure I had enough for myself and another SBer.

Day two of bringing home a case. I seriously need to stop....

So for the weekend, I'm a bit north of my usual location, and while out on some afternoon errands, stop in the towns only, municipal liquor store.

As done many time before, not expecting a whole lot, town pop is only 2,400 as posted on the sign coming in.

Walk to the beer cooler for the misses, pleasantly surprised by the nice selection. Grab a six of Alaskan Summer Ale, Kolsch style. I really like this style of beer.

Wander over to the very small bourbon section, and see some standard offering. Still surprised, decent selection for a small town. Walk to the counter to pay for my beer.

Glance up at the behind the counter offerings, and I spy a familiar small white box. My heart begins to pace faster. I ask to see it, hoping for the best. The manager comes over, as the counter girl is too short to reach it, and cut the tape to open it.

BTEC Giant Frech Oak, 19 and 23yrs young. Heart races more. Ring up, and walk out of store happy.

Later in the afternoon, tell the in-laws and wife about it, and how something like this just shouldn't be normally found in place like this.

But I'm not complaining.

And at least the cases are getting smaller.......

Stopped by a local liquor store I frequently go to. They have a room in the back with a glass window that had some some bottles on the shelf. Inquired about a JPS 21 that I saw and sure enough, it was for sale. Decided to take it home with me. Curiosity got the best of me.

Plus, it doesn't look like I will be finding a 17 or 18 year old any time soon. I know it's not the same juice but I'm still eager to try it.

Now if I could only find a 2013 FRSB LE I would be set.

Bought 2 more bottles of a store-selected barrel of Elmer T Lee (verified excellent), another bottle of a store-selected barrel of Buffalo Trace (verified excellent), and a bottle of a newly arrived store-selected barrel of Blanton's (hopefully solid as well).

2x 2004 Bday Bourbon, 1 Willet FE 4yr Rye, 2003 Wild Turkey Rare Breed, Larceny, and a peculiar product Jacob's Well, apparently a dusty 7yr 84 proof Beam.
