AKA: Empty Shelf Support Group. What Bourbon Are You Not Drinking?

Since it is a bit awkward to post/brag in the "What Bourbon Did You Purchase Today?" thread about bottles you purchased but don't ever plan on drinking, I wanted to make a thread where people could share the scores they will sip with others tomorrow. Obviously, this is not a venue to list anything, just a place to garner some high praise for your hunting skills and dedication to the hobby. I expect this thread to get quite a bit of activity - I know you are taking glamour shots of those multiple ECBP and Stagg Jr bottles, so post them here too so we can all be wowed by what an enthusiast you are. Registered lurkers are especially encouraged to post.

Flippers, like scalpers, should be lined up and shot

I wanted to clarify, I don't want to see the rare or occasional bottles you have had bunkered for a while and changed your mind on. Photos and bragging about large quantities of current release stuff is what is highly encouraged.

photos and bragging about stuff YOU have that others cant get/find/afford is going to do nothing but piss the other side off. someone on here is gonna post a pic of a case of ECBP and i will have to e-moon them...

Well, I do have a bottle of rare, old Bourbon (using the new Wild Turkey definition) so if anybody want's to see a photo of Grand Dad BIB I'll dig out a camera.

Squire, I am sorry but you are probably not eligible to post photos in this thread. The fact you actually drink your bourbon, and buy it for said purpose, excludes you from participation;)

Why e-moon when you can e-moonshroom them?

In full disclosure, I've participated on BX/SX in an effort to rebalance the bunker towards old ryes.

(I've been looking for an excuse to post that picture)

That's alright LB, as Groucho famously said, "I refuse to be a member of any club that would accept me".

I don't buy to flip. I just take random pics of the store shelves and ask "any interest?" "Anyone?" " How bout these ones?" "Hello?"

That was a good one! I can only assume you have seen activity like this on other forums.

Okay, I'll step up and take my licks. I bought a little over two cases of JPS Batch #1 knowing that I wasn't going to drink all of them. Usually when I go all out on a bottle it's to pass them along to friends at what I paid for them (For Roses Gift Shop). It's the advantage of living here in Kentucky. But I have taken a bath on some things ::: coughcough::: Old Forrester Single Barrel #1.

Oooh, that one's got to worth a lot more than the 5 Star.

Pfffft. That's nothing. I have some AAA 10 STAR you can "sip".

Just scored this pallet of Saz 18. Woohoo... I'm going to have to start driving the box-truck when I go dusty hunting ;)

I do wonder if any of the distilleries have seen internal theft increase given the prices some of this stuff is going for.

Semi-serious for a second, for those who've been around for a while has it ever gotten this sideways before? (folks buying cases, scouring entire counties with no intent to drink, etc..). I realize ebay facilitated easier sale than old school "knowing a guy" and that social media shortens the communication chain even more, but what i'm witnessing seems like pure out madness.

More like pure out greed. There's been a long history of folks scouring estate/yard sales for anything they could sell for profit at their flea market booth and when the internet arrived there was a natural migration to sell on that venue. For them Bourbon is just a means to a profit and Boards like ours educated them on what to buy.

Seems to be the double edged sword. Rapid communication and sharing of info, both helps and hurts. I know they keep a section of the SB site private, starting to see why.
