chperry
I really like Smooth Ambler Gin, particularly in a martini. Unfortunately it is difficult to find in Knoxville, TN. Recently I found a bottle of their Barrel Aged Gin. It is bottled at 99 proof and has been aged in oak for 3 months. It is VERY good. You can sip it straight and it really shines in a martini with good vermouth (Vya). It has muted juniper notes and thus, in my opinion, does not stand up well in a gin and tonic. I like very strong juniper flavor in a gin and tonic. If you get a chance, try this gin. It is very good. I also like that it is produced in my home state of WV ;-)
SmoothAmbler
chperry, Thanks for the kind words. We really love both gins, but the Barrel Aged Gin has become a favorite of mine. Try it in an old fashioned or a manhattan instead of whiskey (blasphemy on this board?).
