Prior to the festival we had a discussion of where and what bourbons that we would be looking for during our annual trip to Bardstown.

One of Peggy and mine first stops in Bardstown was Toddy’s liquor store. There I was able to pick-up the following:

Two bottles of Old Forester Birthday Bourbon (Spring 1990) – This has been popular on the board, but I have never been able to find it where we live. I tasted it for the first time at the Gazebo Friday night.

A bottle of Ridgewood Reserve 1792 Bourbon - This was also a first for me. We contributed this bottle to the Friday night Gazebo and really enjoyed it.

A bottle of Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage 1993 – To replace the Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage 1990 that we were planning to take to the Gazebo party. At the party I believe we had the 1990, a 1991, and a 1993. It sure would be great to have a picture of that table full of bourbons.

A bottle of Old Weller 12 year – Highly rated, but have not seen in our area. Old Weller Special Reserve is one of my low-cost favorites.

A bottle of Russel’s Reserve 10 year. –Available up here, but a better price in Kentucky.

What bourbons where you able to find?

This is so fascinating! The next time I'm at the Longaberger Homestead, I'll remember how much we all love our hobbies and the wonderful keepsakes we can treasure from our hobbies!

My daughter lives in Bargersville, just south of Indy. Aren't those the beautiful baskets everyone collects?

As Boone related elsewhere on the board, former Barton Master Distiller Bill Friel loaded me up with barbecue sauce in thanks for my able assistance during one of his entertainment breaks at the 2003 Barrel Rolling Competition (I provided cannon fodder for a few of his jokes). On my way home, TSA inspected the sauce, but their dinner break ribs were, apparently, well basted already, and they let me keep it all. cool.gif

Tonight, I decided it was time to do some rib rubbin myself and cracked open the boxes . . . only to discover that the 6 proof Pappy’s XXX White Lightnin sauce had transmogrified into 0.022 kilo bottles of bourbon whiskey. Damn, if I wasn’t a happy camper! Many of those Heaven Hill brands that never leave bluegrass country have made their way to the B_P bunker! cool.gif
