Tony, it is gone to Dusty land. Son of Bourye is the current version. If you like it I'd go back-soon.

Thanks for the info, Old Dusty. Does that mean I need to start drinking before 9 on Sunday morning to see if I like it, or take the chance and just go scoop some up?

Answers are yes and yes:grin:

Actually two ways to look at it. It's a dinosaur now so has value from a sharing/trading standpoint even if you don't love it. And if you do love it then.....

I am really loving on the '13 4RSmB. Luckily, the Monger was able to hook me up with 6.

Wow, 6, that's quite a haul right there.

As for me, we were in Costco today, so I bought a bottle of the Kirkland Bourbon. Been a few years since I visited it and with the holidays around the corner figured it wouldn't hurt to have around for the "pour coke in it crowd." I will say 7 years and 103 proof is a pretty good deal at 19.99 for the L.

I want to be like Joe when I grow up.

Sipping on some 4RSB and I really like it. I'm not a huge fan of straight rye (so far), but I really like high rye bourbons. Hell, I like wheaters a lot, too.

Nice work. No doubt that was his whole allocation. Cleaned em out! I'm trying to run through my first bottle ASAP. Just to piss off the bourbon gods.

Found one bottle of Handy at one store and another bottle of Handy and one of their other locations. After getting home I say the proofs were different. Seems I got a 2013 and a 2011? This is no the type of place were the 11 would be sitting around for 2 years. Has anyone else had ths happen?

I picked up my first ever bottle of Elijah Craig 12YO/94.

Charming. Moreish. Weighty, perhaps even oily. One of those where it's very dry your first taste of it, and then it blooms into a gentle low-key sweetness. Not a bourbon I'd partake of every day with its $33 price tag, but definitely one I like well enough to keep around. Hard to describe the aftertaste but I enjoy it.

The label has a blurb on it about a special yeast recipe that's been a family secret for generations, which makes me wonder if HH sent samples of their liquid yeast to a yeast house to have it perpetuated specifically for them in dried form. I figured that if they were using dried yeast they simply bought something available to the wholesale trade, but perhaps they contract to have Earl Beam's historic strain provided for them in dried fashion.

This could be my best two day haul ever. Lots of driving involved, but very happy with the results. Especially the Knob Creek 50ml. ;)

WOW!! Nice day's work.

That wouldn't happen around Chicago.

one of my all time favorites right there. It's priced a little better out here I guess, always in the mid 20's. I've had standard offering and several privately selected barrels and I've never been disappointed. solid.

After work, stopped by a store where I usually find the 4R Ltd editions each year...none left. Instead, to my surprise:

VWFRR (2)

ORVW 10/107 (1)

Store owner said he got VW shipment today...total of 9 bottles...and he said that was better than he expected...lol.

I'm hoping to snag a bottle of the VWFRR too... But unless it falls into my lap, I'm not going chasing for it.

There's just so much other great whisky out there I'm lusting after ;-)

It was totally unexpected. I gave up hunting it last year. I was real fortunate to find some 2 years ago...but, the gas & time it took to hunt it down made me reevaluate the situation. Last year, I just did not pursue it and nobody called me from any stores where I was on their 'lists'. I totally put it out of my head and had no intention of ever hunting again or even stumbling upon any. Oh well, luck does still exist I guess.
