They used their own version of the Beam jug yeast but I recall reading in an interview that they didn't have a good way to continue making it once they moved to Bernheim so they now use dry yeast from Red Star. Not sure whether it's a custom recipe or not. I'll see if I can find the source for that.

Well, here is a post on BE from Chuck Cowdery where he says they had Red Star make it to their spec.

Here is the same information a little closer to home.

Found out last night that Jimmy Russell of Wild Turkey was going to be at my favorite local store today. Took an early lunch, went over and had a nice 10-15 minute conversation with him about their products and the KY Bourbon Trail. He was very nice...I picked up a bottle of WTRB and he signed it.

I bought a store selection of Henry McKenna BIB from Martin Wine Cellar. Nothing mind blowing, but they did a nice job picking this one.

I have to mention what an improvement the new packaging is on these bottles. The old bottle with the weird felt and copper wire and half attached parchment looked like such a kludge.

Although ive plowed through about 3/4 of my first bottle of FRLESmB 2013, it's all been smallish pours... Until tonight. Felt like I needed to make Ron Swanson proud while catching up on this season's Parks & Rec

3 cases of ECBS 137, on my 15 bottle total from this one store...and they can order more. I'm wondering if anyone in Alabama knows of this great stuff, lol.

Even with how much I love everything Four Roses, it had been years since I had a bottle of the Yellow Label. On sale for $15, impossible to pass up. Great mixer for holiday gatherings.

I doubt it. Not in your area. Good score, I'll have to look for it the next time I'm out there.

Picked up a Four Roses Single Barrel Private Selection, OBSK.

Glad you decided to pick that up. The OBSK releases from this year have been absolutely amazing across the board.

Ha, thanks. Figured it was worth a shot. I'd kinda regretted not grabbing one in a past trip to this particular store, it wasn't there at another trip when I'd wanted it, and today it was... and the only reason I went was because I wasn't feeling well and wanted some fresh air/to get out of the office. Fate.

Picked up my bottle of B'Day Bourbon, along with a bottle of Old Rip (new style bottle!). I wanna try Old Rip 107 against OWA 107.

I bet they're the same juice with different labels. We'll see.

Well, one has a 10 year age statement and the other is probably pushing 6 at this point, but other than that, they're the same.

As I struck out with BTAC today, I went back and got the Elijah Craig 21 that I passed on yesterday.

Talked him down to $101. Barreled 5-24-90 Barrel #7

This would be closer to the 22-23 year range unless they bottled it in 2011. If i recall they just got released earlier this year though.

They can't be the same, they're in different bottles. The whiskey isn't in quantum superposition.

I knew whiskey had its quarks, but now you're just pulling at random strings(theory).

Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to all.

I have completed my holiday shopping today.

A Wild Turkey Old No 8 liter bottle for Thanksgiving and a 2013 William Larue Weller for Christmas.

Happy Holidaze to all!

Picked up an ECBP 133.2 (I suppose the 3rd batch) for $44.99. Bought my two bottles of the 1st batch for $49.99, so guess that is a step in the right direction.
