What Bourbon Did You Purchase Today? Fall 2013

Visiting family in Louisiana...wanted something to sip and ended up with a "hirsch selection special reserve 20 year American whiskey"...I know absolutely nothing about it but will give it a go tonight. Anyone have any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure that was distilled in Peoria, IL at the old Hiram Walker distillery and aged in used barrels. Or, at least this is true of a first-run batch under this label a number of years ago. There seems to be a resurgence of this stuff on the market, so it may be a different batch. I had a taste at a whiskey thing earlier this year and really liked it, but I suspect it was from an older batch.

Picked up a bottle of Rock Hill Farms. Good reviews, been wanting to try it.

Tough to stomach but what can ya do? Other bottles were marked up even more. This place knows what it has. And I wasn't getting it cheaper anywhere else, ya know? It's only money, I'll just plant another tree.

The only places I've seen it had it at $199.99. I'd pay $130. I paid $90 for the bottle I got last year but with how many stores I've gone to with no luck, $130 seems like a steal.

Picked up a ORVW 10 year today. The stores in my neck of the woods are all cranky about their small distribution. One store sold out their entire allotment in 45 minutes.

It has been a productive week. A lot of driving, for work, and a couple trades. I ended up with a fresh OGD114, WL Weller antique 107, EH Taylor Barrel proof, 4 rose 125th limited edition, 2 more Stagg Jr's, one Stagg Sr, and finished off big with a Lot B! Got shut down on the rest of the pappy line, one owner refused to sell the 3 cases he received this year because he is mad at the state! Don't tell me you have it and your not willing to sell...

Take the 2 bottles home for yourself and tell your customers no allotment this year? The profits off 2 bottles can't be worth the hassle

EC22 was barreled on 10-29-90. Came from Barrel 4. I see no bottled date.
