Like I said before, I think it's the area you are in. I used to have trouble finding Sam Adams when I lived out there. Looks like you own the "Heart of Dixie" when it comes to bourbon. ;)

Thanks to the awesome Bingstein..... I was able to find the 8 year WFE I'd been wanting since the Willett tour during KBF.

I told my wife I wanted one for a Christmas or a B-day present, but that she'd probably not be able to find one. Bingstein told me where a stash of it was 2 hours from my home. Tonight, I went in to work and they wanted me to take some frozen steaks to a customer in that town, so I happily agreed, and got to drive there on their dime. I had to 'slightly' break the $50 rule, but since it's a gift TO me......

118 bottles to a single barrel seems kinda low.....that's only 23 gallons left in the barrel after 8 years...

Crack it open and give us some notes when you have a chance.

I will play along and wait until it is 'gifted' to me....

it was the last of that barrel the store had. they had at least 5 more 8's from barrel 6090, and they were 117 proof.

I have 2 bottles of a 9yo WFE from the same barrel (#2095 maybe? Can't recall off the top of my head) that yielded only 69 bottles!

Glad to hear that you found one! Low bottle numbers are a good sign more often than not.

@autiger23 - seeing the riches you seem to easily be able to find makes a New Englander very jealous. Neither BTAC or PVW has hit MA yet, and although it has come to RI. We are still waiting on the FR 125th - it's almost feels as if those Kentucky distilleries are punishing us Yankees for something that happened 150 years ago...

I was thinking the same thing - 8 years with that much evaporation, must have been stored up there in the rick house!

Snagged 2 Lot Bs yesterday with the aforementioned help of Bingstein. A pretty nice end to a very busy fall bourbon-hunting season. Now time to enjoy those bottles. Cheers!

Officially yes, but they did provide at least 9 infantry brigades to the Confederacy. Interestingly, both Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis were born in Kentucky.

Fortunately, one was more competent than the other. In the midst of a divided country, KY was also a divided state, and sent troops to both sides. I believe only one actual battle happened in KY though. Technology and industry usually win.....

Squire, I am always pleased that your history geekiness exceeds even my own!

Back on topic, the wife and I are going to Sams club today for a membership, we havent had one in years. I look forward to seeing the bourbon selection, and she used to love the prices of wines there.

Hit up a not often visited store in my area. Usually nothing, but today I spied something very out of place

Two Weller 12's sitting in the mix of SR and OWA. No price tag on the shelf. Went to the front to ask about a price, bottle wouldn't scan.

She brought somebody else over, and looked it up by name. Said $16.99. I mentioned I would be right back with the other bottle.

While I know that the price was way off from the norm, i wasn't going to argue with the manager when they quoted it.

Dumb luck, generally it isn't even available in the state!

I had a store call me to let me know they had a Small Batch LE waiting for me. The manager said it was the only one they got. She handed me off to the cashier and walked off. She rang it up at $37 after tax. I explained to her there was no way that was the right price and that she should check with the manager. She REALLY didn't want to and tried to talk me into the lower price! Long story short, I paid full price.

Whiskey Monger hooked me up with some VW's today. One each of the 10, 15, and VWFRR.

I also had the temerity to basket a WT Spiced...

No, I don't know why....

ER17. Atlanta situation crazy this year. Store got an off-duty sheriff to supervise due to rumors of fights breaking out in lines at other retailers.
