Went by a store today to see if the PHC I passed on a few days ago was still there. It was, but then I saw they had the 125th Four Roses LE....had to pick one. Wound up getting the Four Roses. Checkout girl said they just got it yesterday.

Got shut down on the rest of the pappy line, one owner refused to sell the 3 cases he received this year because he is mad at the state! Don't tell me you have it and your not willing to sell...

That's just perverse, poor chap is obviously headed for a break down.

I got a bottle of Four Roses Small Batch 2013 125th a month or so ago from a store that I frequent. Said they only received two bottles total for both of their stores and the other one had been reserved in advance. Today I got out of work early and decided to pop in on my way home, just to see if they had anything new. They had a bunch of new JPS, some PHC7 and a few other interesting items...but they also had another bottle of the FR SmB '13 125th! I had been hoping for another bottle since I enjoy it so much, but I wasn't about to pay BX prices and the only bottle I ever saw in the wild I already owned. So I took this one home with me as well.

I can see keeping one ore two but come on! Be mad but not at the customer...

Yeah, he is really hurting those who pay his bills. What does he gain by not selling it? Less sales tax for the state?

As I told Flounder, timing is everything. I hope it makes you weekend a little more enjoyable. I tried it at a tasting and love it. I bought a bottle but haven't opened it. I am waiting for a gathering of friends. It is unique and I want to share it. Enjoy!

EC22 was barreled on 10-29-90. Came from Barrel 4. I see no bottled date.

So my 21 that was released no earlier then summer, was barreled on 5-24-90...... Seems weird especially since I read a 23 year bottle might also show up. What is msrp on the 22?

Yes! I was surprised they had it, Oklahoma doesn't get much outside of the run of the mill stuff. I did get it for about $92 (tax included) so from what I have seen that appears to be a pretty good deal.

I'm a bit shocked (as is my wallet). Went by Total wine today since my wife was going to buy me a nice bottle for my birthday and saw an out of stock tag for George T Stagg. Got their whiskey person out and she said that and some pappy had come in but was all gone. Got her to check inventory at the other store and they had eagle rare and a pappy 20. Called them up and they had their's in a back room and were only selling it if someone asked, they set some aside for me.

bought a Pappy 20, Eagle rare 17, and a Old Van Winkle 10 all at MSRP. Left the Van Winkle 12 and the Thomas Handy as I had already spent way more than I planned to spend today, but as people here say the time to buy is when you see it. Only overshot my wife's budget by 4 times. Now I just have to figure out where to start...

Stopped by one of my local stores today. One of the owners had been telling me about a 4R barrel pick that was on the way. I thought it would be the traditional OBSV 100 proof but to my surprise it was a Private Selection OESQ at 118 proof. Had a chance to sample and was quite impressed. Just another reason why I'm a big 4R fan.

I normally start with a glass but with that haul I might be tempted to tilt a bottle.

I hope more stores around here start doing barrel proof picks of the different recipes. Nothing against 100 proof (because they're still lovely whiskies, and a more affordable price-point), but I love the flexibility of diluting my own.

Yes, there's a certain amount of comfort to be derived from holding an unopened bottle of barrel proof goods.

After trying (and falling in love) with the PHC, I added two more to the bunker. I would have added more, but my wallet would not have liked that. Also bought EHT single barrel and Bernheim, both first time purchases for me. The EHT SB is fantastic, first time I ever tried any of the EHT, but I'm still not sure if it worth the price. Compared the Bernheim with Larceny, and the Bernheim had a better more viscous mouthfeel, but seemed more one dimensional on the palate.

You do know that the Bernheim is a wheat whiskey, while the Larceny is a wheater bourbon?

Nothing fancy but I did have a mini-haul of bourbon and rye at a local discount liquor store: Dickel No. 12 ($15), Dickel Rye ($15), Jefferson's Reserve Straight Rye ($35), Bulleit Rye ($23), OGD 114 ($21) and Larceny Bourbon ($20). I should have grabbed the EC 12 too while I was at it but had to save a little dough for Irish whiskey and scotch. All in all, I was very pleased with my purchases, particularly at those prices.

is dickel rye actually made by dickel, or sourced like everyone elses seems to be?

It's LDI/MGPI but they do their Tennessee filtering thing to it.
