I finished with some Stagg Jr last night as well.

It is such a good pour but sipping on this new bottle and being amazed at how potent this stuff is makes me wonder how I got through the previous bottle in such a short amount of time...

After a long and "different" week at work, I settled in with a couple of pours of 127.8 proof PHC Wheated when I got home this evening. Nice end to a very odd week. :skep:

PHC Golden Anniversary tonight. Just because.

A classic. Just recycled one of these not long ago.

Started with a vat of WSR7yr/VOB. It's a winner! Needs more time to marry, it's only been two days, but coming together nicely.

Moved on to some VOF 8yr, bottled in '58. Words just do not do it justice. So unique. Haunting taste. Nothing like it.

Thanks Unc, miss you. Wish I could have shared it with you.

Started off with a pour of FR (GS) OBSO and finished up with a W12. Both very enjoyable and complementary of one another.

Wish I could make an air freshener with the bouquet in my now empty glass and stick it to my chest, so I could enjoy it 24/7!

FRSB: Warehouse ME, Barrel 69-2P, 9 years.

Huge tobacco and spice notes off of this have finally come together after a few weeks open. I love this bourbon, but a big beast of a drink compared to the more easygoing FRSB I'm accustomed to. When this bourbon hits me right though I enjoy it like no other. Tonight is one of those nights. Huge caramel notes lurking underneath the spice bite. Love it.

On a lark I picked up some Maker's 46. I haven't had any since shortly after it came out. The first bottle (years ago) was ok, but sort of odd. It almost tasted like vanilla extract had been added. My recent bottle is much different. It doesn't even taste like it could be the same brand. It tastes like regular MM with only a slight woody taste added, really not very different from regular MM. It's almost like some one had an eye dropper and added a few drops of Weller 12. And people think regular MM is overpriced ...

All ended well. Later in the week I found my first Rittenhouse DSP 1. I like it quite a bit. My first impression is it's less bourbon like compared to DSP 354, and it had some of the traits of the older WT 101 rye. I'll definitely keep this one in the line up.

Kick starting the weekend with some 1792RR in me coffee. Got to say that so far this hasn't done anything for me. Hoping the new 1792 products are totally different.

Will have to try that WSR/VOB vatting. Sounds good.

I tried vatting some Larceny and M46 last night. Not bad but I'll have to play with the proportions to see if it's a winner. 50/50 had M46 dominating.

Followed that up with some HMcK. It's just fine on its own!

A blind sbs with some mingles of ECBP and EC18. Preferred a ratio of 2 parts EC18 to 1 part ECB over 4 parts EC18 to 1 ECBP. The 2:1 was nicely balanced between the wood notes and sweetness. Also is a higher proof, which might be part of it.

Doing some furniture refinishing today. Think I'll pat myself on the back later with some Old Scout 8 YO SBCS. Last time I tried it, got strong flavors of cola and tobacco. Great stuff.

Spring arrived - a healthy pour of Beam Distillers with Diet Coke, Cardamom bitters, and a lime wedge over ice - it works, or at least, it works with this weather.

Going to make a lobster risotto tonight, so to get in the mood, I'm having some OESV. On ice w/ mint and simple syrup. First julep of the year and the OESV was fantastic in it.

Looked in the back of the cabinet for something special. Ran across a bottle of WFE 9 Year, Barrel 1431, 129.4 proof. Enjoyed a 1 oz pour neat and then a 2 oz pour with a touch of water to take it down to around 110 proof. Very complex and enjoyable bourbon.

Jackie's FW&S selected OBSK. 9yr 6 mo, 117.2pr. Nice and sweet to start, then Boom!...rye spice, oiled leather, and rickhouse oak. Fantastic bottle! :yum:
