thebwood
OWA 107. Decent stuff, but hard to believe there is a massive shortage of this whiskey around my parts.
bananaslug
I feel the same way was finishing off the night halfway through my first bottle. Definitely enjoyable, but whats the BFD? There is always Fighting Cock and OGD BiB on the shelf. Im relatively new to the game however. Wish I could sample some age-stated paper label stuff.OWA 107. Decent stuff, but hard to believe there is a massive shortage of this whiskey around my parts.
jeffrey r
As to the last two posts about OWA, please keep in mind that for many of us here, it is more valuable as a part of the SB blend together with Weller 12, than it is on its own. That's really the only way I drink OWA--not that I don't like it on its own, but it is simply much "better" imho vatted with W12.Last night, had some Michter's 10, which while still not quite worth the $75 I paid for it, has opened up nicely with some airtime, and is now a nice pour. Then moved on to my new FR OBSK private selection. 9 years 3 months, 118.8 proof, and so darn good. Rich, full, flavorful, spicy. Just an incredible bourbon for under $50. flahute
I celebrated the last day of Spring by visiting the Willett distillery and Buffalo Trace. (The hard hat tour is highly recommended.)Had ER 10 and standard BT side by side. At Willett we tried Noah's Mill, Pure Kentucky, Kentucky Vintage, WFE 2yr rye, and WFE 25 yr rye. The best part of the Willett tasting is that my wife actually liked the Kentucky Vintage. This is significant as this is the first bourbon she's liked and didn't think was too hot. We may have found her gateway pour. I was also impressed by the 2 yr rye. Yes it tastes young but the flavors are very good. This is going to be really good as it ages further. I mean you have the palate of the GBS goat. Which is the best of things. Carry on!??????
JPBoston
Nice call, JPB. On some nights, any of HH's BIBs can be Best in Show when compared with any whiskey. They just have that "juicy something nice" to them. Agreed... weird thing is, I just can't get a handle on EWBiB. Some nights it's very nice, others I'm left less than impressed. Wish my damn palate would make up its mind. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
