What Bourbon Are You Drinking - Spring 2014

regular 'ol Booker's. not something I visit often, but it is what brought me full force into bourbon world. I love the rich profile that is like an assault on your jibs without feeling 'hot/harsh'. My in-laws gave me this for X-mas, and at the rate I go through it, Ill e due for another one in December.

Some 2013 OF B'day Bourbon - I haven't picked up the last couple (not that I've had a bourbon shortage!), but this one is right in my wheelhouse. Burnt caramel up front, and the way it transitions to the rye spice - I'm getting some nice ginger zip! Thanks Dad for providing the sample! :yum:

It's been years, but the last two night, on a trip with some friends, I've gotten in to some Buffalo Trace. It's some fine whiskey, I'd say. While I think of Heaven Hill's house style as heavier and richer, BT plays to me as refined, elegant, still quite sweet, but also dry. I like it!

I'm having some BT as a nightcap. I have to say that I agree with your comments about BT. The last few bottles I've had have been great. It's been a little scarce here lately, so when I saw some on the shelf at a store last Saturday, I just had to grab a couple.

I'm liking what my recent bottom shelfers are tasting like too. But the Blowhard has that great and unique finish. As per usual, I think the answer isn't one or the other, but both! haha.

Had some Liquor Barn Hancock's Reserve last night. It has a strong soapy flavor that is off putting.

Somehow I neglected it on Derby Day, so I got out my Four Roses 2012 Derby Museum select bottling, OESV. Great mouth feel, creamy deliciousness. Spectacular bourbon. Some buddies and I are supposed to be doing a 4R tasting one of these days, but if we don't schedule it soon this one might be gone before it can be included.
