It's been a AAA 10 yr kind of week for me.... and that trend continues tonight!

After a long day of helping my mother with her garage sale, kicking back with some EC12.

Enjoying some ND OGD BiB tonight while relaxing on the couch. Butterscotchy goodness.

Opened up the OCPR and enjoyed a pour earlier tonight, and now enjoying some 2014 Sampler Mingle (dumps from select pours at the sampler event).

my next large purchase is gonna have to be one of those SAOS's. The only ones Ive seen lately are 5 year bourbons and 7 year ryes though. Any louisville guys know of 7+yo SAOS sitting on shelves?

Started with a rye tonight, WFE 4-year. Then I went to Facebook and saw that the Smooth Ambler guys had a cookout at work today. Decided to follow up with some SAOS 8-year. Great stuff!

Followed a Founder's Scotish Ale (If it ain't Scotish it's crap) with a nice pour of Elijiah Craig 20yr. which to me certainly isn't crap.

A little Weller 12. It's great until the finish, which is just a bit too bitter for my liking.

Sick as heck today and yesterday, summer colds are the worst. Can't taste much of anything but I want a drink so I guess I'll go polish off the rest of my age-stated Old Taylor (modern). Wouldn't be replacing this even if they kept the age statement, though I can't really tell if its Beam or BT (I'll blame that on the stuffy nose).

Bookers with a little water, first time I have had this.

Smooth then heat then long oily finish, nice.

Seems the longer you let it sit in the glass the better it is, good thing I bought two bottles.

the old brain is about fried from all the studying this month. I'm about to pour some Booker's (its been hitting the spot again lately, havent had much of it in months), and study some more. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting bigger.......

Went for a bit of dusty hunting and found a 200 ml Jack Daniels green label and an old 101 proof WT Rye. It's my first time trying JD Green and I like it much better than black. The WT Rye is fantastic, even compared to other bottles I've had

Last night kicked off with ER10 (I like the sort of pear taste going on, but it also has a nasty quality to it. At this point I don't think I'll reach for it often). Then pitted old Coruba rum against current Coruba rum (difference insignificant). Then demonstrated new Pusser's rum vs. the recent dusty find.

Back to bourbon after that. Tried my first OGD BIB - hat off to Squire, this shall be a regular. I got a nice banana note out of it, with really nicely balanced heat and spice.

First Rittenhouse Rye was next. Also thumbs up.

Then it was a Henry McKenna 10yr (which is good, but has some sort of saccharine note in the aftertaste that keeps it from being a regular for me), followed by some OFBB 2010.

Night ended back with OGD BIB.

I was celebrating some nice beginner dusty finds. Pictures to follow later.

Sounds like a good night. If you do want to revisit the Henry McKenna 10, I'd suggest looking for a store select at some point. They can be very very good.

The 4R cult thread inspired me so I've opened up one of the two std 4RSmb I found in the bunker. Since it's so readily available I have no idea why I had them in there. Well they were in the back and not easily seen.

Fantastic as always. One thing I've learned in my bourbon journey is that 4R is just so consistent. I've never noticed a change in taste/flavor to date. It's just yum. yum.
