Nice Tony. I hope you enjoy the cigar and bourbon. I also hope your kid does well at G'town.

Cheers! Joe

Four Roses LE 125th Anniversary. Eloquent voices from the local (Toronto) bourbon fraternity reminded me that LCBO has a fast-declining stock and I should get out there and buy one, so I did. Thanks guys. This is indeed a superlative bottle. The whiskey is creamy-rich with typical 4R fruit flavours against a non-assertive oak backing. There is, too, a red fruit character of a kind, grape-skins. I like the alcohol-cum-tannin tingle at the end. Worth the brass and a special iteration of what has become in only 10 years or so a classic name in bourbon. This bottle really is a tribute to the genius and foresight of Jim Rutledge.

Some GBS ETL runner-up (aka - Jackie's ETL), which is really hitting the spot after a day buried in pollen.

I agree, this is great. I drove from Oshawa to North York to pick up 2 bottles last week. Then stock appeared close to Oshawa so I picked up more to bunker...and on the way to pay saw Knob Creek was on sale 20% off...tough to stay on a sensible budget

Crown store selections tonight. ER10 solid store pick. I have had a few store selects that were a little better but this one is solid. Much better than the standard offering. Followed with a nice pour of Smooth Ambler OS 8-year (108 proof)...an excellent bourbon! I am going to have to pick up another bottle.

OFBB13 and Knob Creek. Probably some family bias but I am leaning towards the Knob Creek.

Bulleit 10 to start (think I prefer standard Bulleit), followed by Manhattans made with Hudson Manhattan Rye, and finishing up with 4RSB...

Last night went OGD 114, Stagg JR, OGD 114. The Stagg is just richer and tastier, but the OGD is an excellent value pour.

Tonight finishing the last pour of the Stagg Jr, glad to have two more in the bunker.

Was out at a remote job site yesterday and overnight (remote as in half way to Alaska and only accessible via boat or float plane) and my only options were cheap beer and rum so I'm making up for lost time today with some CEHT Single Barrel as an appetizer and now some ECBP batch 3. Haven't had the ECBP for a while because I've been trying to work through some other bottles. Dang! I forgot how exceptional this bourbon really is.

I also prefer the regular Bulleit to the 10 yr. Sometimes age itself is not an improvement. Also since its sourced it could well be different stuff in the bottle.

Had some OFBB '13 while making dinner last night (tenderloin, home made hashbrowns, Ceasar salad) and it was just okay. Then I pulled out a vatting experiment I almost forgot I had put together - 50/50 Stagg Jr./ER10. Had tried it shortly after I mixed the two, and it didn't do a lot for me. I don't know if the extra melding time made a difference or it just hit the sweet spot last night, but it was so good it stunned me. Creamy vanilla with a kick, and a great finish. Loved it.

Some Old Ezra 101 7yr. Need to do a blind sbs against the current WT101 (which is a few bucks more expensive, although a lot more availability in these parts). Today I'm loving the slight burn of that rye spice :yum:

Rainy Sunday afternoon, and needed something new on the bar.

Pulled out a VOB 6yr and having a nip while the chicken takes on the rub.

Good drink and good food to come, what's not to like?

Picked up a 'new' one (for me, anyway) yesterday; Old Ezra 101. Poured a generous dram and am enjoying quite well.

W12 and EC12 tonight. I have the W12 edging winning out tonight. Also tried the Barterhouse for the first time. While good, I'm not sure if it's worth the price...

Buffalo Trace, to compare against the store special barrel I got 2 bottles of a couple weeks ago. Both are good, but the select barrel is indeed special, with more of the wood and age notes I associate with older items in the line. I think I will need to pick up some more.

Had some Rock Hill Farms and some EHT Barrel Proof last night. Still not sure how much I enjoy the RHF. Only have a pour or two left in the bottle... sometimes I'm in the mood for it and enjoy it. Other nights, not so much.

Farewell party last night for a friend who has been part of the Wednesday tastings from early on. Did a comparison between an EC20 and Barterhouse blind. The EC20 was the easy winner of the group. The Barterhouse, while not bad on its own, was felt to be thin and lesss complex in comparison. I still find the EC20 to be a bit more woody.

Also shared some 2011 PVW20 with the guest of honor. The rest was from the dark side with the Bruichladdich PC6 barrel proof the final toast of the evening.
