jeffrey r
Last night, had a large pour of my own "Bowman Blend", which is equal parts Bowman SB and Bowman Port Finish 12 Yr. It is really terrific stuff (they are both excellent on their own), and I have really grown into a big fan of the Bowman profile, and what they do. clingman71
Last night - Old Rip, Weller 12, TPS AAA, RHF, V21 Rye, plus MJs, OFs, and my first attempt mixing Sazeracs. Earlier in the day, during a brew out for national homebrew day, new local distillery Stillwrights showed up-Batch 1 is their 2 year old wheated bourbon from 15 gal barrels. They have a mixture of 15, 25, & 53 gal barrels are changing to all 53 gal as they increase production. The future releases will blend bourbon from the various sized barrels to hit their target profile. Initial tasting thought, as good a new craft bourbon as I have had to date. Definitely young, woody but not too much, rich and sweet, right in my wheelhouse, can't wait to taste more aged releases from the bigger barrels. Low $30s price point for a 750 as well, I will definitely be purchasing a bottle. Edited May 4, 2014 by clingman71
TunnelTiger
Last night was a AAA10* and before starting my flower bed chores some QGD114 in my coffee and now in my bloody mary. Really enjoy this bm with the OGD114 plus the addition of Worcestershire, a slice of bacon, and a couple dashes of El Yucateco habanero!
kcgumbohead
Last night some 50:50 W12/4RYL I really like this combo. The YL is a tad light and benefits from the boost in proof while the W12 benefits from the added sweetness of the YL taming a bit of the char. I like the sum of these parts and at an adjusted 20 bucks a bottle its a not a bad deal either. I think I will try OWA/YL if I can find some OWA and see what a close to 90p will give me. Thig
Tried a 50:50 mix of Maker's 46 and Redemption High Rye bourbon. It was a waste of good Maker's 46.

Restaurant man
2014 sampler era Gift shop OBSF. I was handed This bottle by a strapping young mod on this site. He had planned to buy it for himself shortly after I had expressed interest. But always the gentleman he deferred to my fine character. To you Scott, I toast, an F yeast on ice is a spring treat. boneuphtoner
Doing another side-by-side comparisonk of RB 108 (old label) versus 112 (new label). When I first tried these two, the 112 was the clear winner. I still favor that one, but the 108 was closer tonight. Could be in the original comparison the 112 had been open for 2 weeks whereas the the 108 had just been cracked.
393foureyedfox
Fitz BIB. Used to enjoy it as a bar pour, but not enjoying this bottle much. I lately tend to use it as a primer, and dont plan to buy any more of it. Larceny is better, IMO
flahute
A bit of a tasting tonight just for the heck of it. Started with SAOS 7 yr bourbon 99 proof, followed with Old Blowhard, and now WT101. The SAOS is fantastic - caramels, toffee, vanilla. The Old Blowhard is.......interesting. Got that glue smell for a bit but it eventually wore off. Oak is present but fades away after a while. I agree with others that it tastes a little thin and could use another 7 to 10 proof points. It's tasty but not my favorite. Certainly not worth the price compared to the others here. jeffrey r
Did a little SBS of SAOS 7 Yr and SAOS 10 Yr tonight. Both excellent, but I think I preferred the 7 Yr. Slightly better flavor to me, and a little less oaky than the 10 Yr. In today's climate, IMO, I'd say the 10 Yr is a very good bourbon and good value at around $50, while the 7 Yr is an excellent bourbon and excellent value at around $30. Good work SA. The Black Tot
Old Charter 12yr and Old Forester signature.Very bold (in a great way) and stimulating nose on the OC12. Taste is nicely balanced - I'm liking these Charters a lot. This afternoon I tried a Louisville 8yr Charter and enjoyed it as well, but this 12 is definitely a bolder beast (10 more proof is part of that). The Old Forester Signature - First time I've tried this. VERY smooth for a 100 proofer. Quiet nose and refreshing on the palate. Light body with a very peppery zing. Probably good in a cocktail that wants spice, but not much more sweetness, ie mixing with something that is already sweet on its own.tbt
