Started with Sazerac's Canadian sb "caribou crossing," then some ETL, then RHF. 80 proof, 90, 100...

Had a small pour of Stagg Jr last night. Neat gave me some serious heart burn. Had to tone it down with ice. Never had that issue before.

Was at the country club I'm getting married at next month. They had a bottle of 15 year PVW. Asked for a pour and she proceeded to pour half a low ball glass full for 12 bucks :)

Doing a sbs of ETL and ETL Com right now. Regular ETL taste like it's watered down whereas the Com has a little fuller and sweeter right from the first sip. It's not a huge difference but it's different enough that it is obvious on first sip.

A national distillers old grand dad (NAS). Absolutely delicious. Easily one of my favorites.

Reaching to the back of the shelf in an attempt to start working on some of those early purchases that I made before I found this place. That means that tonight is a Bulleit night. I'm thinking it's not that bad despite it's hated NDP status. I'm telling myself I can tell it's a 4R product, though I'm not sure if it's because I can really tell or if it's the power of suggestion since I read that's where it came from until recently. It sure does taste better when I think of it as being 4R.

Ain't it great Cards fan!!! Wish I could find at least one more to back up my 86 proof National Distillers. It's a shame it doesn't taste like that anymore.

Great point. I had the same thoughts. It was enough to make me wish standard ETL was proofed a bit higher.

It sure is. Tastes minty to me (squire tells me it's from the rye content). Great for after dinner.

Invited to help a local store pick a barrel of Russell's Reserve SBSB 110 pf this morning with Master Distiller Eddie Russell. Of course since I was on my way to work this morning I was not able to participate in the choosing. And there was absolutely no reason why I bought that pack of Big Red gum this morninig either...

I also shared a bit of the SB.com HHSS with Mr. Russell and he seemed to approve. He was also more than willing to venture outside of the bourbon zone (something he said his father will rarely do!) so I also provided him a taste of a Clement single cask rhum that is about as whiskey like as any rum I have ever tasted. He seemed to really like that one!

I also asked if his father really did keep his Rare Breed in the freezer and he confirmed that he sometimes did. His whiskey so he can drink it his way if he likes!

Got a couple of bottles signed and had a picture taken but it wasn't with my phone so I haven't gotten a copy yet (will probably show up as soon as I submit this). All in all a pleasant way to start the work day.

:drinking:After a very demanding work day starting the evening off with healthy pour of SAOS10yr. I have to really watch this though because the more SA I drink the more I like and I really like it. The 10, the 7 and the rye have moved into my top ten and are threatening the top five.

OGD BIB Manhattan before dinner and a healthy pour of FR SmB 125th neat after. While the world outside swirls around us, we lead very civilized lives-at least when near our respective bunkers:cool:

No dusty taste in the pie hole since the Sampler weekend so started with my close to the end, 16 year Very Rare Dowling BIB, distilled in spring 1953 at the James E. Pepper/Henry Clay distillery in Lexington. This is my favorite of the "fishnet" Very Rare Dowling bottlings I've had the pleasure of tasting. A lot of honey/brandy balanced off of the cedar wood notes...no bitterness. Now on to the first release of Stagg Jr. which I still think a lot more of than others ...cut to 100 poof.

I have an ND OGD '86 that I need to open soon! Tonight, I finished off a bottle of AAA 10 year, a little more than I needed but I still enjoyed.

I like 'em too. I hope you get to try the 8 year single barrel cask strength bourbon and rye. I really like the 8 yr bourbon. Good stuff.
