thebwood
Four Roses Small Batch. This is my second bottle, and I won't be buying another for a while. I just find it weak. I get mostly alcohol on the nose. I did a blind tasting with the first bottle (Knobb Creek, Buffalo Trace, Noah's Mill and FRSmB), and I ranked it as having the worst nose by a long shot - almost imperceptible. The palate starts ok, but I just can't get on board with the harsh, near acrid finish. On the other hand I love Yellow Label. It is probably my favorite $20 bottle of bourbon. I've had some great Single Barrels as well (and some that were just so-so). For whatever reason, the Small Batch just doesn't do it for me at all. Old Dusty
Long day in the salt mines rewarded with a pre-dinner Boulevardier (featuring OGD BIB) then wheaters for dessert. Makers 46 and Old Rip 10/107 for a nightcap.
dmarkle
Some Lot B that I've had in an open bottle for too long. It's got a bitter aftertaste to it today. Not sure if it's because I let it oxidize too much or if it's something I ate recently.
mbroo5880i
Yeah, I don't think FRSmB has a great nose. I do like it but I prefer FRSB. It must just be outside your preferred profile, especially give you like FRYL. I find that I prefer FRSmB when it is the first pour or only pour of the night. If I follow it up with something higher proof or more complex, then it drops off in order of preference.

393foureyedfox
HH 6/90 green label and WT101 (been on a WT kick lately). I stand by my earlier assessment; the HH marginally wins.

jeffrey r
Last night, cracked open my Michter's 10 Yr that I had been sitting on for awhile. Got it for $75, Barrel 13H204. Pretty good, but a bit underwhelming for the price. I took a flyer on it in the hopes it would be one of the better Michter's 10 Yr's that seem to pop up now and then, but I don't think this one is it. I'll give it some air time, and revisit it in a couple of weeks.

petrel800
I picked up one of those too and found it very soapy. It has been relegated to the mixer section of the liquor cabinet.Well I'm certainly not getting Anise. Nose isn't half bad, but there is a bit of a "soapy" quality pushing the rye out of the way. Not in love with the finish either. For the record, mine has barrel #3 listed on the label. I'll revisit after it gets some air, maybe it will improve for my tastes. Certainly doesn't live up to the mash bill.First pour hasn't been great. Heading back through KY this weekend on the way to the Indy 500. Won't be bringing another one of these home. Might grab someone's Old Scout 10 selections if I can find one. McScrooges had a few a few weeks back.
