A guy just posted on Facebook on the Bourbon P*** group that it is the worst whiskey he's ever tasted.

Here is what he had to say:

"Not PB, but more of a PSA... I know it's been said before, but STAY AWAY! FAR AWAY! I had no idea they were THIS BAD. The bourbon is the single worst tasting thing I've ever have had. It's like sucking on a gasoline soaked piece of driftwood and dipped in mouthwash. The rye is palatable, but very average. They should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for putting this to market and shot in the face for asking $100+ a bottle."

No other comments from anyone that's had it yet. Not a good start....

Got a free taste of the bourbon and the rye the other night thanks to a bartender buddy. This stuff could go down as having the worst price-to-quality ratio on the market. It's not even as good as Stein's regular offering, which is middling at best for young whiskey. A nice lesson in how to destroy a brand (remember when there was some mystery to BMH?).

Anybody know which human is tasting this before they bottle it? I've tried several different iterations (granted, in shot glasses at a bourbon bar, not from a real bottle), and not one of them tasted good to me. The one I tried circa 2011 was the ONLY shot I've ever given back to the bartender and asked if I could get a refund. That's in 50+ years of drinking legally. Disclosure: haven't tried it again since late 2013. Another disclosure: never had the rye.

This is a new release. The stuff from 2011 and 2013 was mystery barrels out of Kentucky (and years prior). The current release is produced by Stein Distillery in Oregon and labeled as Oregon Bourbon and Oregon Rye. There was some amazing stuff bottled under the BMH label in years past but those days are over.

I also had heard each iteration was a different "pick" so figured my first was just a bad one and the next one HAD to be better - why else were all these people saying "AWWWWsome."

So even a craft distillery does not sell their 'good stuff' but only their rejects as bulk whiskey? too funny.

Saw a tag in a store I have never frequented today for this, or so I think it is this, but they were out of stock. New shipment comes in tomorrow. But I swear the price was $33.00. Did something change?

I picked up the rye for under msrp but I still paid too much. It tastes like a log was covered in brown sugar then set on fire.

It might suffice as a mixer or for cooking.
