What will they think of next? http://www.palcohol.com/home.html And how come the COLA trollers weren't all over this? http://www.bevlaw.com/bevlog/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/powder.pdf I double checked the approval date, just to make sure it wasn't April 1st. cowdery
There were several articles about this today in various media. Really, they were the same article repeated several times. What none addressed is the science of this. How is it possible? I'm extremely skeptical.
AaronWF
How is it possible? I'm extremely skeptical. Here you go.http://gizmodo.com/powdered-alcohol-3-important-things-you-should-know-1565706005The chemistry of modern boozeIn nature, alcohol, aka ethanol, exists as a liquid, so how do you make it into a powder that's dry to the touch? We spoke to Sam Bompas, half of the food design and research team Bompas & Parr about what powdered alcohol might actually be. According to Bompas, the ethanol is probably "micro-encapsulated" in some kind of molecular container, kind of like a teeny gelcap. Or a mountain of them. "The alcohol molecules themselves will still be liquid, they are just enrobed in a microscopic shell," he told us.

fishnbowljoe
I'm not too much into the powdered drinks and stuff, except for the Crystal Light I use to perk up my daily water intake at work. If they ever come up with an intravenous bourbon however, I might just be interested in that.

upStomp
In an era when any new and innovative consumable has an instant enemy industry/interest group ready to spout about its real or imagined dangers (you know, for the childrenâ„¢), I don't see this stuff making it very far. That is, unless the heavy hitters deem it worth gobbling up to market and sell by themselves. Edited April 22, 2014 by upStomp Grammar -- eeesh.
