camduncan
Over the years a few members have asked me about Australian Whiskey and what it's like. For the most part I don't have an answer as I detest the taste Scotch Whisky, and the majority of the Australian ones being made are made 'in the Scotch style'. Starward is too, but (probably) due to it's young age has a taste profile with bourbon characteristics, so while I didn't think it was amazing, I did think it was good enough to drink again if it was ever on offer. For that reason I follow what they are doing, and this came to my attention today. Pretty cool notion if you ask me!http://www.oakbarrel.com.au/starward-ginger-beer-casks/?utm_source=The+Oak+Barrels+Subscribers&utm_campaign=ffab57ed02-OB_Newsletter_2014-05-21&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_a33b799c16-ffab57ed02-309247685Here's a link to their distillery site for those interested:http://starward.com.au/

tanstaafl2
I do follow the Australian malt scene a bit although obviously from afar but I am not familiar with them. However, it would appear that the author of the blog article doesn't follow the A. Smith Bowman distillery!

tanstaafl2
Well, not exactly the same thing. The Bowman was aged in barrels that held a spiced stout, which is quite a bit different from a sweet non-alcoholic ginger soda.
