garbanzobean
In honor of all the hubbub over the new WT Special Release, I decided to grab a 50ml mini of WT101, as I haven't had this in years. Not bad, not bad at all. Kind of reminds me of a less fruity FRSmB. Maybe with some OGD mixed in. $3 well spent.

fishnbowljoe
I was down to only seven bottles open, so I figured I'd better open something new before my palate started getting too "blahhhh". I opened a FRSB tonight, and had a couple of pours. Mmmmmmmm. :yum: That's the ticket! Cheers! Joe
smokinjoe
Deep dive into the dusty depository in prep for Saturday, and pulled out the late-70's WT 86.8 proof to sip on this damn cold evening. I don't know y'all, but if the new WT 86.8 is near this in profile (particularly an absolutely tongue clinging finish) it will be a well received whiskey from that standpoint. BB Slim
A pour of my FR solera mix last night while watching Michigan State win over Michigan.Best regards, TonyTony are you a Spartan? I tend to assume anyone living that close to Ann Arbor is a U of M fan. I had a few pours of FRSB OBSK while watching MSU roll over the injury depleted Wolverines. Go Green! 393foureyedfox
totally enjoyed a small pour of a 120 proof 8 year SAOS bourbon. doesnt really feel like 120 proof, and has a fantastic sweetness to it. Im diggin this one! Am I correct that the SAOS bourbons are 36% rye?
Solomon2
Jefferson's tonight. A little too smooth, I might have been happier with Woodford instead.

Solomon2
So I washed down my Jefferson's with some WR after all. A bit winey by comparison, but in a good way. Finished off with pumpernickel pretzel sticks from Trader Joe's. If more bars stocked such stuff, I'd be going out more often.

Im diggin this one! Am I correct that the SAOS bourbons are 36% rye?It depends on the barrel. Some of what they get is MGP's high rye, and others are low rye. All the 8 year store picks I've heard about have been 36% rye, but that doesn't mean some of them aren't the lower (which I think is still around 25% rye, but someone who is smarter please correct me if I'm wrong). The main "lower" rye SAOS bourbons I've seen have been the 10 year release, which doesn't appear to be as well liked as the 7 and store picks of various ages. johnnybogey
FRSmB. Versus the FRSB OBSV, I get a little more spice with the SmB.

Kalessin
Cleared more snow and especially more ice from the roof (a regular hammer is remarkably effective on those ice dams at the edge!). Every day that passes is another day moving towards spring.Relaxed the sore muscles with a generous pour of OGD114.

Though we've seen no official announcement on price, I'm skeptical it will be less than Diamond Anniversary. I will be quite happy to be proven wrong on that assumption. If it is priced at that kind of premium, I can only hope the taste warrants that kind of premium. DA did not (in my opinion).

El Vino
First pour of Forged Oak. Nice vanilla/peppery nose. Fruit and pepper through to the finish. Kalessin
I started watching Bruins vs Oilers, but changed to PBS nature shows (desert! ocean!) because hockey was making me think too much about ice on the roof.I enjoyed a pour from each of my two steadfast bottles of this winter while my home bar and bunker are packed off in storage: ETL and OGD114.Every day that passes brings us the completion of our kitchen-plus construction project. Today the electrician is done after inspection, and we have a working oven, cooktop, microwave, fridge and disposal, as well as all the lights and switches installed. Next up is plumbing completion, another coat of paint and poly on the floor, a bunch of punch-list items, and someday we'll have first-floor furniture back and I can select from more than just a few whiskies...
