After a long day at work, I started with a pour of SAOS10, then went with MMCS for the 2nd. Contemplated a 3rd, but decided to save it for the weekend.

Happy hour with former co-workers with a limited selection = Maker's neat (which they at least didn't screw up the neat!)

It amazes me how often that isn't the case. When I say neat I wouldn't think i would need to explain that to a BARTENDER.

Yesterday was my birthday, and Thursday night is gun club night, so I thought I would bring something special to the gun club. Opened up a Michter's 20y SB. What a great bourbon. It has to be the smoothest bourbon I've ever had. Their was 5 of us sitting around the fire and every one said it was around 80 proof, they were shocked when I told them the proof (it's 114. something proof). Big chocolate flavors and a coffee flavor that was very unique. A great bourbon.

More ETL Com last night. Followed up by finally opening my bottle of the JB Red Wheat. Noticed the "Beam Funk" right off, but under it was a pleasant taste I couldn't quite identify. Don't think I'd buy another at the price per 375, but for big Beam fans (Mila). it's probably worth a pick up.

Yep. Gotta love them Gnomes. Relaxing with a JDSB. Not Bourbon. But going down really smooth.

Cheers All! Have a great and safe weekend. :toast:

Sipping on the Amador whiskey the in-laws got me for Christmas. Its nothing special, but its definitely an approachable bourbon. Then again, its only 80 proof, so I guess it has to be. Pretty watered down tasting, but it has a nice, sweet nose, and a smooth finish.

Experimentation with varying proofs of the latest WTRB: 112; 110; 100. Definitely too hot and astringent at barrel proof. Right now, 100 is working very nicely bringing on the fruity flavors. I bought this based on rave reviews. Normally I just don't care for anything WT, but this is a pleasant surprise with the right amount of water. But I'm an old curmudgeon in a young man's body. So I'm still weary.

found some CEHT Small batch so started off with that and then comparing it to the single barrel. all sorts of deliciousness in both bottles, a great compliment while watching the Hawks game.

Trying some of the new label WTRB. The last version was one of my favorites so I'm interested to see how I feel about any changes.

some regular ol Knob Creek. Not the best thing in the world, but does have a pleasant long-lasting aftertaste and well worth its price.

Tonight was a EC12 kinda night, a finishing the bottle kinda night. Good reward after hauling up 40 boxes of stuff to go to storage tomorrow from the basement.

Really enjoyed. Nice spice kick up front, followed by a bit of a sweetness, and the finish sticks around. Perhaps another bottle will sneak in tomorrow that we will not mention to my wife...

Wife is out of town with my mom. I show up at home and my dad is at my house, sitting on my couch and I see a drink next to him. My father isn't a bourbon drinker, usually drinks blended Scotch, sometimes a single malt. I bought him a bottle of the Balvenie doublewood so he would have some good stuff at my house. Anyway, I say "did you find the scotch I bought you?" He says "No, I saw you had more than one bottle of that Weller stuff (Weller 12) so I opened that!" I just laughed and said "I hope you enjoy it"...so now I'm on my second Weller12 pour.

He did try the Balvenie later and loved it.

My palate has been a little burned out and things haven't been tasting right so I've been treading lightly. I started with ER10 which tasted mostly normal. Took a chance after that with a tiny pour of VWFRR. My first taste of this bottle was right when my palate went to the birds so all I got from it was oak tannins. Tasted horrible. This taste had a little of that, but I could really detect something special in there. Didn't push my luck and left it with that small taste. Now onto a Stagg Jr. batch 1 vatted with some OC8. This works real nice.
