Continuing with my theme of "giving bourbons I thought I didn't like a second chance" I had my second pour of Knob Creek. Hmmmm.....very Beamy. This is not a bad thing, just....expected. It did not surprise me as much as EC12 did (my first in the theme). It's not blowing me away. It is better than I remember though. Not ready to proclaim this as a repeat buy, but there's a lot of this bottle left so I don't need to decide now.

My second pour is ECBP batch 6. It's surprisingly easy to tone this down given it's hazmat rating. What an exceptional pour this is as all the other ECBP batches are. So fortunate to have this in such good supply here in the Northwest.

Last evening, after a long weekend of kids sports and such, had pours of A Bowman Port Finished, HHSS 2, and EHT SmB. All good, and then promptly conked out.

Hosted a Derby gathering Saturday. Made MJs for everyone with Larceny - finished bottle, then killed off my '11 PVW15 for the Derby itself, finished bottle of Tornado, tried the new Gallenstein RRSB (release2), finished a baby Saz making Sazeracs, finished an OGD 114 making OFs, finished a Gallensein ER10 #21 with a cigar. The head was sore Sunday, but wife is happy from clearing 6 bottles!

This weekend I continued my 4R OESO kick with a nice derby day pour.

Working on a rotation of RH BIB, OC10, WLW12, and 4R. Really enjoying each of these and see another bottle of each in my future when I finish these.

Cheers! -BE

HMcK SB BIB, a Liquor Barn selection. Half way through the bottle I am noticing things I missed before and rejoice at the revelation--gardenias (yep!), black pepper, ground ginger (not fresh grated). Rich, thick mouth feel is appealing.

Poured a healthy glass of Bookers. First time in a while but as good as ever. This bottle has been sitting unopened for a couple of years but it's been calling my name for the last couple of weeks...

Having the last of my VOB BIB 6yr age stated tonight. It's a shame that they had to remove the age statement on this to put out crap like Walking Stick, but I guess that's where the margins are.

It's Dickel Rye again tonight. I was never into Rye that much, in the past, but started to check it out again a couple of weeks ago and I find that I really have a thing for it right now!

Washing the Hirsch 20 yr American Whiskey taste out of my mouth with an Evan Williams 2004 SB (barrel 1419 if anyone's interested). I was looking for an easy drinker tonight, and this is fitting the bill nicely.

Finished up my bottle of 4R OESF private selection. In enjoyed that bottle, a very herbal and savory bourbon. Followed it up with 4R OESK, very much in the traditional bourbon profile. So surprising how these 4R recipies can be so very different.

EWSB 2004 is very heaven hill. Getting notes of licorice and menthol. Love it.

Tonight 's a bottle I open maybe once a year - a tax stamp BIB Old Taylor. With this pour, about a third of the bottle is left. It's got to breathe for ten minutes or so, but then it opens up like a flower (a flower in amber, to be sure). A rich, mouthcoating of rumcake and banana bread, followed by ryes spice. The next dram of this will await the coming of another season, so tonight I'll dig this small haunt of ancient peace

Tried a mini of Knob Creek last night. Tasted oranges, beam funk, and maybe some peanuts. Definitely a little artificial sweetener taste. To be fair to the Knob, it was after a couple EWSBs, but it still wasn't enough to convince me to buy a bottle.

Finished off a bottle of OGDBIB and 4RSB last night and then capped off the evening by opening a bottle of ETL (chosen from the garage stach).

It's been a few months since I've had any ETL and it really hit the spot.
