mbroo5880i
Youngest son graduated high school yesterday so we are winding down after a hectic week. Finished off a 375 ml MMCS with a 3 oz pour and now following up with FR OBSO Liquor Barn selection, 10 years, 4 months, 110.6 proof while watching Cleveland-Atlanta NBA playoff game. garbanzobean
OFBIB = OFSIG? One of my faves so far, got one open and one bunkered. Might pour this next, since the open bottle is getting low, to make room so I can open something else/new.If I can offer a bit of friendly (and probably unwanted) advice: go back through your post history and see how many of them refer to "making room" or "clearing out." As someone who has gotten over this mentality in the past year . . . take a deep breath. Enjoy what you've got open. Most of what you've got in your bunker isn't LE. It'll probably be on the shelves tomorrow, or a year from now. Just enjoy, my friend. I kmow there's a lot to try, but the bourbon isn't going anywhere. My apologies if I've offended you. I am enjoying them all and trying to taste as many as I can to determine what I like and I have a limited space for open bottles. What I have found is I like the under $30/bottle stuff every bit as much or more than the more expensive stuff.

Fort Knox
Tonight was a couple of solid pours of my favorite 12yo bourbons, starting with EC12 and ending with a pretty hefty pour of W12. The wife has to work tomorrow, but I'm off, so I'll actually get some stuff done out in the garage. Gonna be a good day, with great weather and some steaks on the grill in the evening, but I will definitely toast to the great men and women who have given everything to make sure I have the freedom to enjoy such a nice day. DPPSmoker
I had a great night tonight. I smoked some bbq for my folks, some great friends and my favorite teacher from when I was in school 35 years ago. I was long overdue to have him over to my house. He didn't want to share my bourbon with me but his son did and that is OK. In fact, it was funny as hell when I led off with sharing my 2011 Four Roses LE SmB. He saw Four Roses and he started waxing poetic about how nasty Four Roses was. His father was an old German farmer who died about 20 years ago and he recalled how his father couldn't mix enough 7-Up to make that bottom shelf Four Roses tastes good. I tried to set him straight with how Jim Rutledge has totally changed Four Roses but he seemed pretty set in his way. I'm gonna have to work on him. After the 2011 Four Roses LE SmB, I shared MMCS Batch #1, Stagg Jr. Batch #1 and 2013 GTS. Most of my guests were novices with bourbon but they all enjoyed the different bourbons that I offered them. Most of them were not accustomed to drinking straight bourbon let alone bourbon that was at least over 110 proof.

I just got stuck in a clearing things out just for the sake of trying something new mindset for awhile and it diminished my enjoyment of the hobby. I'd hate to see others get into that same frame of mind. Cheers, and enjoy your OGD. Its a good'un.Again, I apologize for the unwanted advice. My wife has been on nightshift all weekend and I've been stuck taking care of a sick (and not sleeping) kiddo. Clearly its affected my judgment. Sorry again, I'll say no more. alstevens
^^^ it was Old Fitz for me.Good! I was hoping so! I love that stuff. In most cases when you love a bourbon(at least lately) you almost don't want to say anything in fear as it will become hard to find. But I fear for OFBIB and I hope the more love shown for it keeps it alive at HH.

GaryT
After tasting some various mingle samples, decided to go with a healthy pour of PHC #6. Definitely my favorite of the PHCs I own, and I think my favorite of all of those I've had a chance to try.

smokinjoe
Closing out the end of a beautiful Memorial Day weekend. It seems fitting that the clouds have rolled in, and a light rain has begun to fall. It brings a sobering solemnity to what this day is about. So, I raise a humble and thankful toast of a fine Wild Turkey American Spirit bourbon to those brave men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and average Joes like me. I'm at my parents house enjoying the Beam's Choice 8yr from 1976 - the only bourbon they have (they don't drink any more so these bottles have been sitting here since, well.....1976).
