flahute
EC12. Just a week ago, I was of the belief that I didn't like this bourbon. I gave it a second chance, and boy am I glad I did. This is my third pour and it's still hitting a home run. I'm sitting here thinking that quite suddenly, this bourbon now has to be discussed in my top ten. Tope five if the limiteds are removed from the conversation. Funny how things change.
fozzy71
On a mission to kill open bottles I dumped the last 2 oz's of my OGD114/EC12/BT vatting into the #lastpours decanter and switched over to JBBIB.off topic: anyone here ever used the forget hangovers transdermal patches? On the topic of hangovers, I find the best remedy is staying hydrated. If that doesn't work, some ibuprofen and and Pedialite the next morning cures it for me. As a wise SBer once told me: Pedialite, it's for sick kids and hungover parents.
alstevens
I'm hanging around the bottom shelf as of lately and experimenting with BIBs.It was Evan Williams white label BIB a few nights ago. I bought Wild Turkey 81 to compare to 101 and I've been struggling with it. Any ideas what to do with it? After hitting the BIB stuff it tastes thin and weak. dboland
Poured a bit of WT 101 neat and really enjoying it. Smooth enough to sip guilt-free just before noon on a sunny Saturday.I also bought a HMBIB and tried it a couple times earlier this week. It just hasn't done it for me. Not sure if the bottle is a dud or something else but it has too strong an astringent flavor. Label says it was barreled in 2001 so it has probably been on the shelves for a while which should have been a clue.

fishnbowljoe
Tasting some JB BIB in order to try and post something relatively coherent for the BOTM thread. :slappin: What can I say?
Madhatter
Bourbon isn't like red wine that will evolve in the bottle. Theoretically, it could sit on the shelf for a century and not change. Your palate, on the other hand, could change between Tuesday and Thursday. Come back to the bottle in a month and see what you think. I try to with hold judgment until I've had at least a half bottle.
squire
Well I'm convinced, being a cautious sort I'll just drink that stuff up faster than it can change.
emr454
Having some WSR on the deck this afternoon. It's been a couple years since I've had this pour and it's just like I remember...Like someone dropped a cinnamon candy in my bourbon! This has some good flavor and quite a spicy cinnamon finish. stickly
Having some mint juleps today in preparation for the big race! Using up some bottles that i don't go to very often for neat pours. fishnbowljoe
I had a little taste of JB BIB this morning to help with the BOTM. I haven't had anything since. Gotta wait and see if any of my wagers come in on the Derby. :skep: Who knows? It could be an awesome evening.

I meant with the age of the bottles that those on the shelf have been there for 3-4 years now so nobody seems to be coming back for more at a place that normally has high turnover. GaryT
After swearing I would abstain, I couldn't resist a small pour of HW American Prairie Reserve. I don't know why I don't hear more about this whiskey - I can see the argument that it is a little pricey for what it is (I believe some combination of 6 yr MGP & 10 yr FR OBS_), but I'm glad that a portion of the profits are going to a good cause. And it is a damn enjoyable pour! The kind I can easily kick back and enjoy without thinking too much about, or just as easily carefully sip and ponder/appreciate what it has going on!
