smokinjoe
1792 in the new bottle. Showing a complexity (medicinal/fruity) and suave richness I've not tasted before in this bourbon. As good as it gets.GaryGary, I am down to my last pour, or two, of my bottle of the newly dressed 1792. I've loved every drop. Suave richness is a very good descriptor of this whiskey. It was wonderfully silky for me, and had the nice Barton DNA, and with that additional fruitiness you refer to. I was very impressed and pleased that it is as good as as any I have had previously. I have a store select single barrel near me that I loved and then was indifferent to by the end, with the old label. I keep arguing with myself about picking up another bottle, but now wonder if I should look for one of the new labels instead.

Of course that move to NAS occurred prior to the dress change. The takeaway for me regarding this whiskey is that I don't see any falloff in enjoyment post age change from the 8 yr age stated. Now, on to a Virgin 7yr 101 over a couple of rocks. So good, while so cheap.

flahute
Started with Bowman Brothers SmB and it struck me nicely tonight. Some early grassy notes (typical of BT) that evolved into some standard caramel after some time in the glass. Following up with my standard blend of Stagg Jr (batch 3) and OC8. Poured in too much OC8 so I had to counter with more Stagg Jr. Ooooooffffffff.........it's a big pour........getting veryyyyy sleepy.
suntour
An OBSQ I had neglected chasing a bunch of other recipes.So. Damn. Good. The nose is weird and all over the place - if nosed blind I'd think it was rum or a OGD from the 70s. Tons of layers of classic bourbon flavors with the bright juiciness I find in the best store selects. With this and an excellent OESQ on hand, starting to think I really like the Q yeasts. I know I do.As for the 06, I still can't figure out why it's to market in the middle of the year? Usually out November-ish at the earliest???Weird.........B

A week later when I went back I grabbed the last '05 so I assume I won't find another '04 there, or anywhere else.
GaryT
Cleaning out some open minis, and found that Woodford and WTRB are an interesting combination (not enough for me to go buy bottles of either, but enough that I wasn't disappointed in mixing the bits of both I had left; probably 3 parts WR to 1 part WTRB). amg
Not available in Michigan AFAIK. I will probably do something like that eventually with some of the other bottom/mid shelf stuff I like but I have a lot in the bunker to kill off first before I buy anything new I hope.If you make a drive down to Indiana some time HHBIB can be had here. I may end up down that way for a weekend this summer to see my friend/co-worker. It also wouldn't be too far out of my way if I take my vacation to TN/KY either.
