Was looking for some OWA as I have never done the SB blend and I have a new W12 waiting in the wings. I could swear this stuff used to be in the 20's but 40.00 has me second guessing this whole OWA thing so for now, a pass.

yea, $40 is a bit much for it. I normally see it around $26 or so around these parts, if at all

Thats what I was thinking, yep it'll be a pass at that price but if I spot one in the mid 20's I'll pick it up.

$40 for OWA is out of whack . . . passed on it at two stores in KC last week for $21.99 and $22.99 . . . hope that holds up for the near future.

That's probably about as cheap as you are likely to see it. Even a few years ago when it was widely available it used to cost me in the neighborhood of $20.

It's hard to find at all in mid-Missouri right now, but it's running $26-ish when you can locate it. Those KC prices are pretty darn good!

Think I need to make a road trip to KC!

And to make my post adhere to the topic... passed on Blanton's at WalMart this morning for $52.58 and passed on CEHT SmB for $59 at a liquor store that typically has good prices! Good grief, a cross town store has it a full $15 a bottle cheaper!

Booker's, Blanton's, HW Campfire, HW double rye and plenty of the other usual suspects (Forgiven, Willett 2yr rye, MMCS)...

I passed it all up. My bunker is bursting at the seams. The only thing I might buy more of anytime soon is OGD114 before the end of the month and the $5 price hike.

I know a store in the Indy area selling OWA for $49.99. I bought a bottle down the street for $27.99, which I thought was a little high but the more typical price in the Indy area.

Is it the same store that sells Baby Saz for $49.99?

It could be. I didn't see Baby Saz while I was there. It is an independent on the west side.

Ah. The Baby Saz I saw for $49.99 was at a notorious chain.

Could that notorious chain be the one with the oxymoronic name "Payless Liquors"?

WOW Baby Saz at $50+? That is a definite pass. The last bottle I had was thin, watery, and the antithesis of what a rye should be.

Mine too and I paid $26 for it.

Hank, was your last bottle a recent purchase? The one I currently have open is from 2013 and is very good, not watery at all so I'm wondering if you think this is a recent development with the brand

My most recent bottle was not as good as I remembered. I didn't think to check the date code.

No Gary. It was several years old as I recall and I had been drinking lots of rye at the time and remember thinking that it didn't have the spicy backbone and body that many of the others had. Glad to hear that your current bottle is quite enjoyable. Cheers!

I haven't seen OWA in quite a while (maybe 2 years?) but stumbled upon a half dozen bottles at $27 at a local store. Good to know that they are there but I passed on them, as I still have two paper label bottles in the cabinet.

I would never have passed at that price! I'd have grabbed a couple at least. You can never have enough OWA in the bunker! I truly believe that $39+ will be the price we'll be finding it at, if we can find it.

You may be right but this is a store not known for great prices, so I figured I might look around a bit more to see if I can score it for less. Having said that, I haven't seen it in any other store in years so I may shoot myself in the foot if I don't move on it. My thinking when I spotted them was that it may signal a re-entry into our market and that it may start popping up in other stores with better prices.

I hope your right my friend!

I am jealous of you anyway, being in the Chicago Burbs. So many places to shop(Liquor). I was a Chicago Burb resident for 59 years (Elmwood Park), until I relocated to Henderson, Nevada in 2001.
