It was hard but I passed on a bottle of gts for 199. I really wanted to but that is a little pricey for me right now.

I've noticed that several stores have dramatically raised the prices on Bulleit bourbon and rye. I used to buy the rye once in a while. I'm sure not going to pay no $35-$40 for it now.

As of today the Bulleit Ry & Bourbon are both $17.99 per 750ml down here. The grocery stores are a bit more.

The Bourbon is $28 and the Rye is $30 in my area. I'd buy a case or two of the Rye at $18 if I could get it at that price!

Maybe that's why I see the snowbirds buying cases of brown vodka . We don't have the best selections available to us, but the prices are generally reasonable. http://www.totalwine.com/search/all?text=bulleit&sort=most-popular

I checked prices in NV vs AZ and I was surprised to see some are higher, lower or the same. I don't get that! Sadly I am not allowed to have spirits shipped to me even if they are not sold in the state. :smiley_acbt: I guess I should do a road trip to Vegas this fall.

I passed up on all of my typical WalMart bourbon choices... EC12, BT, FRSmB, KCSB... All the prices went up this past week, some significantly. So I bought some wine for the wife and a jug of gin for some mixed drinks. Need to let my brain adjust to the higher prices.

I did pick up a few fifths of Blanton's there earlier this week though... They are undergoing a shift in their offerings and are closing out their stock of Blanton's at $40 a bottle. Took 3 and left 3 for the next guy.

I passed on BT today at $21.98. :skep: Once again, not because of the price, but because I already have a few.

Cheers! Joe

Took a ride to Bardstown the other day just for chits 'n giggles, and got a lot of laughs. Stopped at a few stores to see if OWA or Weller 12 might be hiding on the shelves. The alleged "lowest price in town" store had a few 750's of W12, but couldn't decide on the price for "Weller 12 'Nuff Said" - had both $79.99 and $89.99 stickers on each bottle  :slappin::slappin::slappin: .

Then stopped by another not far off the square with a front room full of Bourbon Tour paraphernalia to find quite a few 750's of OWA priced at $39.99 :lol::lol::lol:. Woman behind the counter comment was "Well, prices increase." Fortunately I had lucked into some OWA 750's at a reputable chain store a few weeks ago for $23.

Third and last stop found none of either, although the clerk said he thought a few bottles of W12 might show up next week, but would be insanely priced because the distributor was pushing it that direction. :skep:

Overall, right now I can see no reason to ever darken the doorsteps of a Bardstown store again - virtually everything (bourbon-wise at least) I saw (and was familiar with) was a couple to many dollars more than what I can find locally (@ 25 miles west) or in Louisville. I guess that's one of the benefits for a store located in the trademarked "Bourbon Capital of the World" with tourists wandering the sidewalks...

I think I was lucky enough to catch the end of fun Bardstown shopping a few years ago, but I agree with you Powderkeg, that seems to be where they are these days.

I passed up a 1.75L of Buffalo Trace for $50 at a PLCB store in Pennsylvania this weekend. It was the only one left on the shelf. I believe I may have missed a good-buy- opportunity here...

They are $51 here for state min pricing so sounds like average price. The 750's here are 26 or 27 so I stocked up when I was in IN at 21 or 22 per 750.

Feeling very fortunate at the moment... I can think of 3 places around town that have shelves that are well stocked with BT 750ml @ under $20 a pop! Although this past week my local WalMart went up $1 from $18.78 to $19.78 per bottle.

Passed on Blanton's at $69. I was actually very surprised to see it. It's the first time in over 2 years that I've seen one and it was at Total Wine.

I've passed on everything lately. Stopped in a couple of stores this past weekend and almost bought a bottle of Bookers at a pretty fair price, but I have enough in the bunker that I didn't feel compelled. Still, my Whiskeria Nervosa is starting to kick in. It's been almost two weeks since I've procured a bottle.

I was in a local Meijer store tonight and saw Booker's for $41.99. I'm well-stocked on it, or else I would have grabbed one (or two).

Passed on a Bookers 2015-03, not because of the price (state control, the price is the price), but because I have very little room to store stuff. If I'd seen it for 42 instead of 63, I'd have bought at least 2.

Passed on a 750 of Medley 12-year for $45 yesterday.

I'm thinking I may go back today and scoop it as a 'relationship' buy from my local purveyor of spirits.

Any thoughts, anybody???

Wow 69 at total wine? That's close to SFTB prices abroad. Release it here!
