Richnimrod
EWSB'06 - that is some terrible shit, would rather have EWBIB or anything elseHmmm, a 'bad' bottle, eh? Unusual, but not unheard of. What Barreled date, Bottled date, and MAINLY Barrel # are shown on the back?
dSculptor
On Sat. after a long grueling day at a show, we stopped at a pizza joint and they had some IWH so I gave it a try, over some rocks, it was pretty tasty had a sweet aftertaste to it. I'd probably pick up a bottle as long as the price is reasonable.
Jazz Nut
Hmmm, a 'bad' bottle, eh? Unusual, but not unheard of. What Barreled date, Bottled date, and MAINLY Barrel # are shown on the back?I am quite disappointed with my bottle of 2006 EWSB, I have a bottle from barrel #14. Hoping that it settles down in the bottle, but right now it tastes thin, watery, and heavy on corn flavor.

I will revisit it again sometime soon and start the night with it after it has had some air time to see if it opens up.barreled: June 19, 2006barrel #: 8.3 (they use decimals?) bottled: April 08, 2015
JDSmith619
Had some family over yesterday and shared some pours with the guys throughout the day. Started out with WTRB, BT ps, THH, ER17 and ended with FR125thSmB.Nice little Sunday.

I know, because I have a bottle as well. All the other dates are the same, and I'm fairly certain the HH gang only uses just whole numbers for barrel I-D.I don't know that I'd call it awful. But I'd say it is the lousiest EWSB I've had yet. I can't recall where I bought it. I have another '06 that I've yet to open from a different barrel. I'll have to do a side by side at some point. I guess it looks like a dash that they used in the other hand writing so maybe 8-3? Either way I was not enjoying it last night. If I don't care for it next time I try it then I will try vatting it with some OGD114 or something else.
MOwhisky4me
Barrel 83 definitely... What looks like the dot/dash is just the way the pen left a ink blot as it ended the 3. It did a similar thing on the tail of the 5 in the date.
DeluxeReverb
Looks like the 'dot" is where the writer is pushing off with their pen to move on to the next number...the same "dot" is on all of the numbers, especially the "1" and "5" of the "15".That's barrel #83. jeffrey r
Saturday evening, after a very long day (so nothing scientific), had pours of CEHTBP 129 and the new 127.2. Both excellent, but I think the 127.2 needs some airtime as it was just opened. The 129 has been open for a few months.Last evening, a delicious Rickhouse L, 7th Floor EC12 store selection. Rich, oaky and flavorful--just an outstanding pour for under $30.
fozzy71
That makes sense guys, not sure why I didn't notice that. I think I need to pick up a few WT101 (the only WT101 I have right now is the bottle I infused with the oak spiral) pints and 200ml bottles. All of the empty small bottles I use for vatting are filled with various vattings right now. I have a few more empty fifths but the smaller bottles are better for trying new combinations and fit on the shelf better.

Harry in WashDC
T'storm is over, and power is back on. Clocks are reset. Now, what's this in my glass . . . JB Bonded. I'm pretty sure. It was dark when I picked up the bottle.

fozzy71
haha, sorry for the derail. This forum (actually the off topic sub-forum) could use a nice off topic low content chat thread since the chat room thing doesn't seem to get much/any traffic. Some of the other forums I am on have them and they can be entertaining and a way for the admins to keep people here longer when.on topic: about to (try to) enjoy that EWSB '06 that caused the derail....edit to add: OK, I may have been overly-harsh as it seems OK today but not as good as I remember the '04 being and not as good as what I was drinking last night before this. I might still try some small vattings when I get an empty 200ml. Edited July 28, 2015 by fozzy71

fozzy71
WT 101 tonight. Good stuff. Cheers!Indeed it is. Easily one of my favorites. I need to buy some more of that once I am done stocking up on OGD114. I was going to have some of the 200ml WT101 I just bought but decided to put it in the fridge along with the pint of OGDBIB since it is hot and the forecast for the next 10 days is more of the same. I am probably going to have something out of the fridge next: choices are FC103, EWBIB and Bulleit Rye. Leaning towards the EWBIB at this moment.Edit: went with the EWBIB and watching some True Detective. Such a great show, both seasons. Eyeballing a BBQ chicken wrap in the fridge that I picked up at the corner store that makes pizza, chicken, etc. Edited July 28, 2015 by fozzy71
DeluxeReverb
BT again. Ran out, went to the liquor store on payday and stood in front of a wall of whiskey, picked the BT to buy. I must like it.
smokinjoe
Last night it was a couple pours of GBS WTRR SB. Magically creamy up front, with powerful quintessential Turkey notes throughout. The mouthfeel is to die for. Not bashful to say, my favorite GBS pick to date.

TunnelTiger
Last night enjoyed a few pours of OFSig and then finished with OF 1897. The Sig I enjoyed, the 1897 is so minty all I could do was drink it. This doesn't look like it is going to be a staple on the bar, bunker, or stash.
