All of them:).......

:iagreejeff:

Any of them can do it for me, I ain't picky and usually jump from bottle to bottle when I have some drinks but it might take 9 or 10 drinks/jiggers til I hit that point. One night recently I recall getting there much quicker than normal. I started at 107pf Bakers and worked my way up > OGD114 > KCSB > Bookers > Bookers:StaggJr vatting > Stagg Jr batch 1.... I believe I woke up the next morning (after a not so graceful period sleeping in my desk chair and stumbling to bed later) with some stagg jr left in my glass waiting to be dumped into my last pours decanter. :slappin:

A recent one for me was a local 1792 pick. I bought it mostly because it was cheap, and based on the barrel in the store it had some age (and it was a few shades darker in color than their non-pick 1792 on the shelf). Oh boy - I'm not one to "bunker" a label, but I went through that bottle faster than any other in the last two years - and loaded up on a few more. I laid off it a bit lately, but not sorry I stocked up.

Thanks for all the posts so far. i kinda figured I wasn't alone.

A refrigerated bottle of HHBIB in the summer time hits the spot just right. A bottle disappears in no time

Thanks Phil. Your post reminded me of another one of my "get stupid" bourbons. I too, have to be careful when I have a bottle of HH6 yr BIB open. :drinking: EW BIB is also in this category FWIW.

Cheers! Joe

My latest bottle of WT101 was absolutely crushable. Would have killed half the bottle in a matter of hours had the wife not been home, ha. For more premium stuff, I'm fairly certain myself and a good friend can kill a 4R 125th in a single day if we really wanted.

Ritt 100 Manhattans. Like last nignt, start with 1...then 3 later.... then a little Ritt 100 on the rocks, stumble up to bed, wake up with crappy hanger, vow to self to stop drinking, or at least till the next happy hour. Also throw in ODG 114. Its not that they get emptied on a regular basis, its the speed in which they end up in the recycle bin.

Most of what I having lying around discourages wholesale gluggery - at least if one plans to be even remotely functional that week. But there might be a few trends in what tips itself (and me) more quickly.

The glasses I drink ETL leak like sieves.....can't keep liquid in 'em. EC12 and ODG114 tend to evaporate faster than they should, even though there are always "better" bourbons open. Maybe they aren't really better, eh? And we seem to have found unusually-solid first wave Barterhouse - the last one made its way into my wife gullet rather quickly when opened.

W12. Definitely got stupid a few times on that. In Texas we're just like "I can get another of these for $27..."

It's also hard to be sparing with the 4R when they just keep making so damned MUCH good stuff...

I think that's the key for me - the dangerous ones are the ones you figure you can just go get more of any old time for an affordable price. They start pouring like water, and then they pour themselves...

While it can happen to me with any really good bourbon that's reasonably priced, the one that I have to consistently be careful with is OGD114. And for obvious reasons — I often remind myself a few 2 oz pours of it is the same as drinking five or six beers.

RHF does it for me, last weekend up north by my folks place (they live on a dead end road in the country) I brought a 200 ml of it with me for around the fire, and wound up laying out on the road at 3-4 am looking at all the stars (my bro's also joined me)...of course I had a few other pours along with me also,(Sb blend) so that was my end of the night drinker...., all in all it was a good day/night/morning.

WT101 - At certain times I can drink this like lemonade - especially cooled from the fridge on hot evenings/nights or with a tiny cube of ice...

I don't have a specific bottle that comes to mind. I have noticed, however, that sometimes I'll start with something (often spurred by reading a post here or buying a backup bottle) and then meander through my collection. "Oh, this profile reminds me of XYZ, I should probably taste side-by-side," or "Now that I've had something from Heaven Hill, let's mix it up and have a pour from a small distillery," or "I am curious to do a vertical of this mashbill." Things like that. And after trying small pours of 4-5 different bourbons and/or ryes, my faculties become somewhat diminished.

For me, I think it usually has to do with a constellation of uncontrollable factors converging at a certain time point, and not with a particular bottle. For me it is always unpredictable, and sometimes occurs at rather inconvenient times (e.g., before a big day or early morning at work...). I've also noticed that often when I try to "make" it happen it never seems to work. Guess that keeps the magic of it alive for me!

So, the last time my setting, emotional state, appetite, company, energy level, booze quality, and whatever else, converged into an evening of unexpectedly getting stupid it was with a bottle of Bookers (2013-6...loved that batch) earlier this summer. And before that it was around Christmas time with some ER17.

The most common bottles that this happens to me with are: Wild Turkey 101, or Old Weller Antique. Why? I find both to be well made, tasty, and readily available. I really tend to ration out the limited editions. Like SlowMash said above, sometimes the "Get Stupid" moments happen at inconvenient times. I find that when my palate is really on, it's easy to have a few too many. Another time that it's easy to "Get Stupid" is after a few days' break from drinking bourbon! Slightly off topic, but my "Get Stupid" Scotch is Springbank 12 Cask Strength.

Like others, my "get stupid" bourbon is Wild Turkey. Not all good bourbon has to taste like Wild Turkey, but Wild Turkey is what good bourbon tastes like. Stupid mode demands the the Rare Breed, with the distinctive leather and pipe tobacco notes goosed by higher proof.

The two bourbons that got me in trouble were Blanton's and WTRB once started I wouldn't stop till half of the bottle was gone.

One of those will be easy to replenish. The other, not so much.

Have to agree with Weller 12. Stuff has flowed like water on a couple occasions and it's a suprise when you reach for another pour to find an empty bottle. OGD114 can sneak up on you too. It tastes so good I don't consider the proof.
